Okay, this could be cool to some people, but I find it annoying. I have the rear view mirror with the dual reading lamps, and there is a little light on the bottom, right side of the mirror that always comes on when the running lights or headlights are turned on? Is this a map light? What is it? It is really distracting.

 

Just put a little piece of electrical tape over it. That's what I did.

 

That's exactly what I was going to do, and I will lol. It is so bright that it lights up the whole passenger seat and dashboard. It's just as bad as driving with your interior lights on.

 

you have a short in the circuit, probably in the wiring by the light - FIX IT - or it will decide to go on when you dont exopect it and stay on and drain your battery.

 

AHH..just pull the friggin' plug!...keeps the battery from gettin' drained!

 

I love that little light. Mine isn't very bright though. I lights up the shifter/center console area perfectly. I don't really know what it's for or why GM put it in there.

 

It only comes on when my headlight **** is pulled back for the running lights or headlights. Sucks for my battery, I drive around all day (when it's dark enough/overcast) with my running lights on... I love how eye-catching the bright orange running lights are on F-bodies! Catches people's eyes from a mile away!

lol You know whats bright as crap in my camaro, my turn signals at night, are they supposed to have a green like lenses or somethin cause mine arn't and they are pretty bright.

 

It is kinda neat though. It lights up the stuff hanging on the rear view mirror! Lol, I should hang some girls panties from my mirror so every time I drive by someone or pass them all they see is these brightly lit up panties, and they'd be like "WOAHH!!!" Lol... can you people tell I'm a teenage guy or what?

 

So the switch to turn that particular light off doesn't work???

Weird. Sounds like wiring issue or the switch broke.

 

Is there a switch? The only switch I saw under the mirror was the switch that toggles the reading lights.

 

be glad your mirror is in good cond. just dim the int. lights by turning the headlights ****.

 

So I read your post again. . . you have 3 lights? I only have 2. . .If that's the case, I haven't a clue about that.

 

I have that little little light but I have a manual and mine is dim so its bright enough to show gears but no enough to be annoying.

 

I love that little light. It has made it easier to do things at night instead of having to turn the dome light on. I just wish it had a little whiter color instead of the yellow color I have.

 

That's one thing that I am happy about. Besides the cracks in the dashpad, some slight driver's seat wear, and my trunk release button lose... that's it! Very minimal work needed...

I'll dim it.

 

My 92 z has the same thing. It is not mentioned in the owners manual that I can find, but I believe it is just a courtesy feature. I think it is just a part of the DC4 option. Mine isn't bright at all, and in fact is a nice little feature to have. Could your mirror possibly have a brighter bulb that required in it?

 

yup... a lil green circle piece.

 

That little light in the middle of the mirror is to light up your power window and mirror switch on the center console as well as manual gear shifter. The 4th gen cars have a similar feature in the form of a small red LeD above the controls on each door to illuminate the window switches.

 

Its also the ashtray light !

 

My 1992 RS has it as well. I have a teal green car (just had HOK Candy Teal sprayed on), and I made green courtesy lights in the floorboards with green LED's. When I found that little light in the mirror, I cut a small piece out of a Mountain Dew plastic bottle and inserted it in the mirror - so now it's just a slight green hue that barely lights the center console area.
