Re: Key stuck in the ignition
At least you dont have to looking for it! Hate when that happens..Can the car be started? If so, you might drive it to a lock smith service. If not, some smith's make house calls. Beats having to pull the cylinder or buggering it up trying to fish it out with a probe and needle nose. Although, a surgeon's hemostat clamp (sold at most sporting goods stores) will work if you can get the nose onto part of the key shank.
Good luck

Re: Key stuck in the ignition
Spray a little bit of "lubrication" into it before trying to get it out!!
WD-40, lock de-icer, graphite lock lube should work, not lots, but just a little!!
This should help to remove it, and prevent it from happening again, in the near future!!!
Make sure to move/wiggle the key around, and switching the lock cylinder from position to position!!

Re: Key stuck in the ignition
hmm, if u take off the cover for the shifter and look underneath, is there two cables attached to it? one controls the transmission, and one goes up to the ignition (lets u take out the key) the one cable might be messed up. i believe its the cable on the right.

Re: Key stuck in the ignition
I have the same problem, there is something broken in the steering column. In order to get mine out i played with it and got it out. When you didnt have the key problem and the car was off, could you still move the shifter? With mine i will have the keys in the house and i can push the shifter right into reverse and then back to park.

Re: Key stuck in the ignition
The cable can be adjusted from the trans end. There is a 10mm nut loosen that. The hole is slotted so the cable can be adjusted in the proper place.Service manual says to put the trans in nuetral first. The loosen the nut, the cable should automatically move to the right spot. Then tighten back the nut.
If you dont hear a click when you put the trans back in park.More than likely the cable is out of adjustment...usually.If not,

Re: Key stuck in the ignition
What if you can only move the shifter into reverse but nothing else, do you think its still a loose cable?

Re: Key stuck in the ignition
The shifter is probably not locking in Park, thus allowing you to go back into Reverse. It could be a number of other things i cant think of.That click though means the shifter locked in park.

Re: Key stuck in the ignition
but maybe try to push the car a little in park & see if it moves or "clicks".Good luck!!
Re: Key stuck in the ignition
Look underneath your car and check to see if the transmission cable is hooked into place like it should be. If it isn't, bolt it back in (2 bolts) and see if you can put it into Park.
