yet another cup holder...

My gf decided to leave her starbucks cup after dropping her off at school. I just couldn't take it anymore. Took my frustration out on a clipboard, then some black abs plastic.

Re: yet another cup holder...

That's pretty clever, is it two sided?

I think I may have to steal this if I keep my center console!

Re: yet another cup holder...

its actually a hurst stick, bought the car that way. I have the stock radio due to living in a bad neighborhood. I've had several stereos stolen already and don't want this car broken into.

its one sheet piece, pattern on one side and flat on the other. I filled the cup with tea and was expecting some bow/droop but didn't get any with a full container.

Re: yet another cup holder...

I got this, it's called the wedge.
Best $8 i've ever spent.
It just goes between the passenger seat and the console and it rests on the seat. With fourth gen seats its even better. Its super sturdy and the center pocket can be used for change and it fits a roll of duct tape perfectly.

Re: yet another cup holder...

you can get those wedge ones in nearly any parts store, walmart also carries them. unfortunately they're not big people friendly. i always throw that thing in the back seat if i'm riding shotgun in my mom's firebird or my little bro's iroc (they both have them). i wear a size 38 waist and that thing digs into my side

Re: yet another cup holder...

Could always cut a hole in the console and put a cup holder from a poker table in it.

Like the poker table cup idea...Maybe remove the console arm pad and make a custom plate/pad/cover for the cup without a permanent modification to the console.

Re: yet another cup holder...

I stole that idea of here lol just cut off the part that hangs on your window and screwed it on to my center console. I have never had any problems with it and it isnt an eye sore.

Re: yet another cup holder...

Here are some better pics from the console cup holder from Rick's Camaro that I installed this morning. Its a nice quality lid, more comfortable, and the switches are accessible. I'm satisfied with it.

Thanks for the link Loneroad.

Re: yet another cup holder...

I thought about that and I shifted with and without the cup. My arms are able to reach past the cup for normal driving. As far as speed shifting....the cup has to go... If you go to a drive-in, park and shoot the breeze or profile down main street its ok. An automatic shifter would be easier for sure.

Re: yet another cup holder...

Does it effect how far you can pop the handbrake? Would be able to do... Bootleg turns, for example, with it? Or does it impeded the brake?

Re: yet another cup holder...

It doesn't impede the hand brake travel at all on mine. It has a slight curve in the lid to avoid the hand brake. If your brake lever goes vertical...you may need to adjust it some.
