5th gen dash and console in third gen
Has anyone tried this yet, and if so how difficult was it?
Just a random thought, like the new Camaro dash and console.

Re: 5th gen dash and console in third gen
I would NEVER attempt it Haha. I cant even imagine how difficult. just the 4th gen dashes are hard enough. With tinkering with the heat duct and cutting and wiring and just all that crap. It would never look right either. Different lengths and widths and all that. Plus on the side vents of the dash, they mold in with the door panels. So it would look rigged up the wah zoo. Also, the whole dash is pretty much digital. All the way around. Theres also console gauges, all wheel controls, and more.Compared to 3rd gen dashes, its wayy too curvy as well. THe 3rd gens are just flat and straight pretty much. I think it MIGHT be possible. But trying to find a dash alone is a hassle. Then buying it. Then after all the modding and anger and all that crap, itd be pointless. its just WAY too much work to get it to ever look and work ok. I dont think its worth the time and effort at all.

Just has bad news written ALL over it! haha

I'll stick with my original dash. It looks too difficult for me to install a 4th gen dash. lol

Fabbing in the console gauges would be awesome. I like the new ones and the old ones. I saw where Just Dashes was making custom dashes with built in gauge pods that looked awesome and they are also making gauges. They have done work for Foose and other big dogs.

In my opinion the "5th gen" interior is hideous and uncomfortable, the few I've driven sucked, at least in terms of the feel behind the wheel. The damn A-pillars are ginormous...I actually love the hard, straight lines of the 3rd gen dash, it feels simple and functional...minus all the squeaks and rattles. More towards the possibility of converting though...the 5th gen is really not on an F platform and there is nearly no similarities between the vehicles. The fourth gens were pretty similar platforms to our cars and that itself is a difficult swap, considering it takes a lot of fab work just to make all the HVAC vents functional.
Not impossible, just really not worth the time for such a bulky, ugly interior IMO.

one of the aussie members of this board was doing a Holden Commodore dash swap (aka our Pontiac G8) into their third gen. I dunno how far he got, but its definitely not an easy swap. I only mention this because the G8/Commodore share the same platform as the 5th gens; maybe you can shed some light from their thread
