Removing the dash pad
I have a perfect dash pad in my 91. I need new speakers as mine are shot. Does anyone see a problem in replacing the speakers. I am worried about the pad cracking. Should I be concerned as it is 24 yrs old?
thanks
thanks
Re: Removing the dash pad
If it is a well care for dash there should be no problems. There is always a risk with 24yr old plastics. The most common issue is when people are installing it and over tighten the screws.

Like LC2 Tech said above - do not try to get every last turn out of the screws when you put it back in. Make it tight enough, but do not tighten it all the way down.

I would worry more if you were in a colder climate but seeing you're in FL, I'd worry more about the sun affecting it over time.

Do it all of the time too. Six 7mm bolts on the bottom and four Phillips screws in the defrost vents.

It came out and went back with no problems. Put some JBL's in and can fade to front speakers again!
I have an old school Dash Mat to help protect from that So Flo sun and she sits in a garage all day.
