Really could use some 4th gen gauge cluster help.
To start i have a 99 camaro dash going in my camaro. From all the reading I have done 98-02 gauge clusters can't be used. Correct? I have the gauges from a 99 V6 camaro. From what I have read is that I need a 93-97 cluster from a firebird. The thing that I can't seem to find is some of the 97 firebird clusters odometer is analog and some are digital so can they both be used or what? And the firebird clusters go right in to the camaro dash correct?

No bro you are good. Just swap everything out. You don't need a 97 cluster. Just use everything from the 99. The v6 gauges will work fine. If you can score the whole body harness it will be worth it. I swapped out the whole interior with a 99 trans am harness.

I'm not using the motor that was in the 4th gen. Or the PCM. I thought that 98-2002 cluster couldn't be used because of the data wire? Is that incorrect? If it is usable I would have to get a Dakota digital box to make the tach a v8

I know you aren't doing an LS swap. You can cut and splice for the terminal ends at the lights and tail lights. Just get two of the three harnesses. They are more reliable wiring than the 1980's **** our cars came with.

If I have read correctly if I get a electric speedo from a 92 camaro and that would run the 99 speedo. Is that right?

Bro just use the 4th gen cluster. you would just need a 4th gen plastic gas tank to get a correct reading on the 4th gen cluster for the fuel level. Use the entire 4th gen harnesses minus the engine to get everything gremlin free

Re: Really could use some 4th gen gauge cluster help.
I am using the 4th gen cluster. I don't have the whole body harness. The car I got the dash from all ready had the body harness taken out.
I am just trying to figure out what I need to get everything working. My 700R4 is cable driven the 99 camaro was electric so I have to be able to get the signal to the speedometer on the 99 cluster. From what I have read if I put a 92 camaro speed sensor in my 700R4 that signal would feed the 99 cluster properly. The volt meter just runs off the power wire for the gauges so that's figured out. The fuel level is suppose to work on the factory set up since I got the V6 cluster the tach needs a Dakota digital box.
I still don't know how to get the odometer working. Is all that info correct

Just take out the original gauge cluster and cut and splice the original pigtail. The odometer is going to work with the speedo so you should be good.

Why do they say you can't use the 98-2002 because of the data wire? I'm not arguing just trying to figure things out

It's cool I understand. Lol Yeah the serial data port. The bcm controls a lot of the dash lights and other stuff You will still need the cluster connector for the new cluster. Check eBay prob costs Kim 5$10 bucks

I have the connector for the cluster. So I won't be able to have some of the lights working without the BCM?
