hi everyone
im missing the screw that holds the plastic grip piece onto the parking brake lever. i was wonder if anyone knew that part number to the screw so i can order a new one or if anyone knows the thread size and length so i can put on a temporary. thank you all.
I just stripped the interior out of a '90 Z28 and I took that out too. It appears to be 1cm long but I'm not sure on the thread size. I have a couple pictures that may help you out. Parking brake lever screw length Parking brake lever screw diameter Parking brake lever screw head
Thank you so much for your help. I have a feeling I might have vacuumed up one of those screws when I got the car last month. The old owner left random screws everywhere and i might have snagged one. I'm gonna have to check my vacuum asap and hope nobody emptied it.
Glad to help whenever I can!
I agree that any short self tapping screw will probably work, and if you're pickin at my car enuf to notice that LITTLE screw, well screw ya,
The screw head on mine snapped off below the ebrake handle hole. Had to slot the bottom of my handle to get it off then vice grip the screw out. I hate that little screw.
I know it's an old one, but I wanted to chime in in case anyone else wanted the info. I noticed the lever in my car had finer threads than the self tapper pictured above, so I did some digging.
The factory part for this screw is 11514253. It's an M4x.7x8mm. You can find a few versions online, and some hardware stores will have them in various finishes.
What if you don't even have a screw hole in the handle? I was just trying to remove the leather cover from the handle. The hole is in leather cover but there is no screw or even a screw hole there! Anyone ever see this? I tried moving the leather cover up the handle and it does move about half and inch or so but still no screw or hole in the actual handle....
Does this mean I should be able to just force off the cover? I already tried pushing up hard on it but it only move that half inch to inch and stops....
Update - the screw holes are there. The leather cover had dropped so far down it had covered both holes in the handle. I had to really force the cover up and off the handle. I now just need to procure one of the properly sized screws.
