What years were these seats produced?

While my '89 Iroc is at the paint shop, I'm collecting parts to finish up all the little details. My driver's side seat bolster is threadbare and my upholstery guy said if I can't find a good driver's seat, I could bring him a good passenger seat and he could harvest the material to fix my driver's seat. Annnnyway... I'm going to start searching but I'm not positive what years GM made my exact cloth. My guess is 88-92 as I know the earlier cars had a different pattern. As I recall, my friend's '91 had the same material as mine. Can anyone confirm? Below is what I'm trying to match.

I replaced the seat covers in my 89 Z-28 with new ones from Classic, but kept the OEM covers. The driver's seat bolster was worn, but the the rest of the seat covers were serviceable. I would have to dig them out to look at them, but even the driver's seat might have enough good material to harvest for your purposes. If you are interested in one of my seat covers, let me know.

Re: What years were these seats produced?

Look for a passanger seat and swap the cover to the drivers seat. Pretty straight forward.

You can only use a passenger seat cover on the drivers seat if you don't mind the holes on the side from the hinge bracket with seat back release lever....

But harvesting some material is a good idea... wish i thought of that......

Re: What years were these seats produced?

I've repaired two different driver's seats by using a nice passenger seat as a donor. The upholstery shop has to take care of the holes on the side, but the driver's seat repair ends up looking invisible.

I damn near have a mint vinyl passenger seat that I’m getting rid of for free. I’m putting in 2002 Trans Am seats. The only problem is I live in Chicago haha.

Re: What years were these seats produced?

Thanks everyone. Knucklehead39 sent me the upholstery off his old seats and I should have enough to get my driver's seat dialed in.
