Skulte Cross member and new y pipe!

My new y pipe is frickin sweet! Big thanke to my buddy Chuck! Also thanks to Mike (orange88) for hooking me up with a last minute bend. :thumb:

On to the pics!

A lot better than the crappy "F" Pipe that Muffler Clinic made and 694 crushed.

The motor sounds A LOT better. Like it can finally breathe. lol
----------
Sub frames in a week or so. New body in a year or two. The motor sounds way better. You can tell how well it breathes by the sound. I bought the Skulte crossmember and had a buddy weld up a support for the spohn torque arm.

That's bad a**! Good job on the y-pipe. This always is a problem to make on our third gens, but you pulled it off pretty good!

Re: Skulte Cross member and new y pipe!

Not too shabby at all!

I'm going to be doing (more or less) the same thing pretty soon it looks like, I just bit the bullet & bought a set of Hooker long-tubes for my swap. They're not made for the Gen-III/IV engine, so I'll be getting started by cutting the original engine-side flanges off, then heating & bending a couple of tubes to fit the new LSx flange...
- and then seeing where the headers exit in relation to the Spohn T-56 crossmember that I got for basically free! (I know, you guys are all jealous of all the "fun" I'm going to have with this...)

I hope that mine comes out HALF as nice-looking as yours has!

http://www.skulte.com/product_info.p...65582ec0d16df8

says it's only for 93-97 t56. what gives?

Re: Skulte Cross member and new y pipe!

I belive that is the one they are using I know spohn said you can use either crossmember for a t56 as they end up in the same spot.

They are saying its designed for the 93-97 T56 swap. But when you do an LS swap, the trans should fall int he same spot. So if that crossmember works for a TPI motor and T56 for instance...it will work for the LS1/T56 combo.

They arent saying its for 93-97 cars or anything...

I know the site says '93-'97, but I haven't seen anything that says it won't work with LS1/T56. Hope it does, because they're both in my garage right now!

Thats just a temporary fix. I did not want to put a lot of hours in fixing this body. The current car is a test and fit kind of deal. In a year or two I will be getting a rust free car out of state and transfer everything over.

As far as the torque arm mount, I had it made out of the car. It works, but I its tight. I would like to get a shorter torque arm in the future.

What do you mean?

My buddy brought over a electric welder (sorry, don't know the correct term as I am welder stupid) to do these welds. I am going to grind everything down and make it nicer.

Re: Skulte Cross member and new y pipe!

haha... nice. Looks pretty good! I just took mine out the other day. Man I love those v-band flanges... Makes taking things apart so friggin easy. Whole y-pipe drops with a 1/2 wrench.

Good work again!
