Why no to hydroboost?

 

just read this entire thread and two things come to mind.....

1. holy sweet mother of god that is hotness

2. why is it that live right up the street from you(possibily quite literally) and have never seen this car

 

If you have seen my white Z28 or Black Slammed SS SIlverado then yes I would.

And Probably cause the car lives in the garage and there is always a car parked behind it.

Oh and stop by anytime you see me out there. I'm out all the time.

 

this things a dream come true, no doubt about it. makes me dream big, only being 17 this things a goal for me. single turbo though, no race car.... YET

Haven't been able to touch it in a few months. Plan to start rocking on it today. Last few pieces I needed are done our almost done. Just a few parts left to sort out and SHould be rocking and rolling here soon.

 

Been a bit since I had anything to really update as I have been getting $$$ together to get the last few big pieces I needed for the IROC, BUT... The time is here...

Should pick up the 4L80E today which is pretty much now a stage 5 and able to handle anything and everything I can throw at it, Can't wait to launce on the trans brake.

Got the rest of the turbo parts Hot Coated.

Got a new intercooler... Its still air to air but now is 38" wide and 6 core. I think it'll do. LOL.

Last big thing that is needed is finish up the wiring harness. A shop that I will not name was doing a Mil-Spec conversion to it but its been over a year and its still not done so Ed is probably going to finish it.

My buddy Ed Hutchings is determined that the car will run and compete at the Holley LS Fest in Bowling Green, KY begining of Sept.

Now to figure out which motor to run... The 370, 408, or 427... HHMMMMMMM.

 

Crap forgot to update my thread here. Well here is the latest.






My SS Hood was stolen out of my front yard last weekend... Still pretty pissed about this so if you see a thirdgen with a Blue and black SS hood and then the underside of it has what looks like a fat "T" shape cut out of it. Please let me know.

On a plus side new 408 motor is in, Specs are:
Arias Pistons, No dish this time
Billet Rods
Billet Crank
Custom Spec Cam From Ed Hutchings
Link Bar Lifters
TFS 235 heads with a "little" work done to them
Harland Sharp Rockers
then of course topped off with the Holley Hi-Rise and a NW 102 TB.
Also decided to sump the tank and run a Holley Dominator External Pump.

Getting close to the deadline but I'm confident it'll run for LS-Fest.

Sounds like that thing is going to be pretty darn mean once you get it running. When is the LS-fest?

By the way, nice touch with the bowtie on the intercooler.

 

Looking amazing man! very jealous of that power plant. I really hate hearing stories of people stealing stuff. Sorry to hear it. I doubt I can do much on this side of the world, but... You know I would.

 

Although did not finish the car in time we still took it to LSFest. Ran into a couple little issues at the last minute and instead of rushing it just took it as is. Got the last few things coming so it should be running in a week and get some shake down in so we can actually make good passes at the Shootout.





Spent most of my time at the fest working on this.

 

Did you end up running the 4l80e? how did it fit? Ground clearance?

 

How did it run at the LS FEST? Nice ride.

 

Rad lines done, Fluids in, Just a few electrical things to finish and then it shall run...

 

Wow man... That thing is seriously awesome. All these turbo builds...Im about to dive off the cliff that is me keeping my wrecked 87, fixing it, and building a budget turbo (if there is such a thing) haha.

Cant wait to see this one run!

Thanks man, it's been a long time coming. I'll tell you one thing though, I'm not sure I would ever build myself a turbo car again. There is not such thing as budget and easy with a turbo setup. Like I have always said, Fast-Cheap-Reliable... Pick two. LOL

Hope to have it run in the next few days.

Yea I'm still pissed about my hood. I got a ZL1 hood locally to replace it but its just not the same. ;(

 

So was all ready to start the IROC FINALLY and... nothing. Would crank all day but nothing. After lots of troubleshooting found it had no fuel pulse or spark. Pulled the wiring harness I have back out of the car and the Crank sensor wiring has been sliced like 8 times so hopefully thats all it is. Will try again today. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Found out the car had only been running on 4 cylinders... Fixed that problem. Slowly been getting all the wiring sorted and put away. Got the few little missing pieces now so I should be able to have it move under its own power this week with a dyno tune in the next few weeks hopefully.

Made this front support cover out of a sheet of carbon fiber. The part next to the nose fits like stock and will be drilling a couple holes in the rear and some stainless arp hardware. Soon...

 

Should have some updated pics in the next few days and some run video.

 

Drove the car for the first time in 3 years! Although not very far I was still able to drive it into the show we had this weekend and then took my wife and son around the block in the IROC. I will post the Video soon..






Wife in tears seeing the car move on its own power for the first time in years. Yep married the right one. LOL.

Havent updated this in awhile but the car runs and drive now. Havent got it on the dyno yet but should be soon.
