I would like to think everyone in this fourm, I think I have read every post about LS1 swaps. I did not document my swap very well, but I am willing to answer any questions or post pics if anyone needs them. I used a Speartech harness, and would also recommend them if you dont have time to make your own. Any ideas on a factory looking cold air intake. I really wish I would have move my battery to the other side, so I could use the new camaro set up. Thanks again!!

Re: Ls1 Swap Complete THANKS!!!!!

looks great, congrats! i dont think you could have made that look any more stock, very well executed.

as for cold air, the most stock looking i've seen has been the GTO K&N kits, but they'll set you back a few bucks. also saw a couple of the old SLP kits modded to fit, may be worth a look

Re: Ls1 Swap Complete THANKS!!!!!

yea man the black from the ls1 engine really goes well with the orangish color of the engine bay....looks really really good, nice and neat... maybe someday i will own a lsx type car..... i was wondering how much did that swap cost you... ive always wondered how much money was involved to swap over to that.... i know places like hawks want 700+ just for ls1 swap headers.... ekk...

Re: Ls1 Swap Complete THANKS!!!!!

Thanks for the compliments, I actually was really lucky I started off with a 19k mile car I have had for 7 years now. No rusted bolts, and the paint is as close to perfect as can be, all original. I have roughly $6500 in the swap, it is damn fast. Taking it to lsx fest here in Indy in October to see how fast it really is. If you take your time and watch eBay and craigslist for parts you'll save a ton.

Re: Ls1 Swap Complete THANKS!!!!!

Siliconeintake.com has some good cold air pieces, for reasonable price.
Not much of a stock look, but the have some nice pieces.

looks very nice but I would get the 4th gen overflow tanks to give it an even cleaner look, keep up the good job.

Here is a pic of my CAI, not sure if it is stock looking enough for you but it does look nice. I have the tubing painted black now. I got most of the parts from intakehoses.com and the filter from summit.

That seems to be the general consensus.
I'd get rid of that tiny filter as soon as possible. Having built my own CAI I must say the best bang for the buck is probably the K&N GTO kit, because it uses plastic that is lighter and doesn't heatsoak like metal ones.

Oh and you'll enjoy the car 10x more with a set of subframe connectors.

Re: Ls1 Swap Complete THANKS!!!!!

I would have loved to put the 4th gen overflow tanks in mine, but I tried to not cut or do anything I could not undo. I know I dont have a firehawk or a even a GTA but it was actually almost perfect. I bought a separate dash harness and light harness to do the swap, so I could put it back to original in a weekend if I needed.

Beautiful extremely clean job. That's what I am working towards. I want my car to look like it came from the factory that way and you definitely achieved that. One of the nicest I have seen. What ac compressor is that and did you use the regular fbody front accessories?

Did you perform the swap yourself or did you have a shop help you?

Balbea,
Your car looks great, very clean and well thought out swap. I saw it in the show at LS Fest. I've been looking for a clean low mileage car for a similar swap.

Especially when it's done as clean as he did it. Also notice that you can keep air as I am doing and still have a great looking engine bay.

Yep, I did everything except engine harness and exhaust Y-pipe. The ac bracket I used is one made by superpowers. (image corvettes). Stock f body accessories, the hardest part is getting the lines to work, and look nice. If any one has any questions about ac lines or heater bypass I open to answer anything I can.

Re: Ls1 Swap Complete THANKS!!!!!

6500 seems alot? I seen ls1 engine go for 1k with them having like 50k-70k miles though. What else is needed to do the swap, item wise?

Re: Ls1 Swap Complete THANKS!!!!!

I pd 3700 for mine with transmission. I wish I only paid a grand. By the time you buy the harness. Ac parts, swap brackets and all the little misc stuff, like sensors, cai, exhaust, new style cruise control, it really adds up! If u do the swap you'll see, I'm not saying it could not be done cheaper, that's just what I have in mine.

$6500 for your setup seems like a pretty fair price....i would be more than satisfied if i could have stopped there!

do you have any sound clips or videos of your car?
