4th gen plastic tank with ls1... questions!
Hello all
I recently put in the tank from a 2000 Z28 into my 1990 Camaro. I used the body's 3 wire electrical connector (I added a "hot wire" and relay) and that is wired to the 4th gen tank's 4 wire connector (grounds are joined).
I could not get the plastic tank in with the charcoal canister and solenoid, though. I don't know how anyone does... It just didn't fit and the tank straps were nowhere near going to work. I removed the canister/solenoid.
My question is... What do I do with the line that (used to) go to the cannister? Is there something I can acquire that'll filter/vent my tank with this line? Am I going to have any problems with tank pressure with the solenoid removed?
I used the 4th gen fuel lines, filter, and "T". This connects to the 3rd gen (TBI car) fuel line fine (there are two other... uh.. return? lines on the body that I guess I'll leave alone or remove... does that sound right?)
Have I done this somewhat properly? I tried to use all the resources on here I could but things just didn't seem to be 1:1. Thanks!

Oh... I did solder in the board from a Herco sending unit (97 Grand Prix) that's 0-90 ohm, so I have that going for me...

The tank should fit with the coal canister attached, you need to put that back on or you are going to have major trouble filling up the gas tank.
I did not do with the actual solinoid, so I assume mine just stays closed, but its still able to be filled up at the gas station just fine

Second, you got this part correct! The car has the pressure, return and vent lines under the car. You don't need the return or vent line, you can remove them or just leave them

Just need to spend more time finding the sweet spot where the tank tucks in tighter. It can seem like it won't fit and then it suddenly drops into place when you find the right orientation.

Thanks for the answers! I'l give it another try tonight. I have to take it out anyway... forgot to shorten the fuel neck and that'll be a lot easier when out.

Good news. I put the cannister back on last night and got it to fit. I then got my fuel filler aligned and installed. Fuel lines are plumbed. I need to tuck/screw the electrical/relay out of the way for my hot wire run. Thanks for the answers!

The 3rd gen straps will work, im using them. They are a tad short though. Maybe the 4th gens are longer, anyone know?

I made the 3rd gen straps work. They were fine, You just have to get the tank up in there in just the right way... Having a friend helps.
