new rims and a drop - FULL pics!

once i get the car washed/waxed and take some pics in the sunlight ill post up the full shots.

the rims are custom painted c5 vette magnesium rims (very light!) 17" up front 18" out back, the front springs are dropzone 1.75" and the rears are cut stock springs (1.75 coils cut), i may remove the isolators as well as it's not as low in the back as i'd like. i will say, it is LOW, but its a weekend car so thats alright!

I'd beg to differ. I think the black would not get many looks, chrome will take away from the car but the magnesium says looks at me but look at the camaro too!!

Haha just my .

The front LCA has got to be sitting on the bumpstop... Looks cool, but is not functional at all.

Re: new rims and a drop - teaser pics!

What's custom painted about the rims? The N73 mag wheels always came in gunmetal ?

Re: new rims and a drop - teaser pics!

i'll have some full car shots up soon, the car is halfway through a color-sanding right now!

while the car is low, it's not my dd, so as long as i take it easy going in/out of parking lots it's not too bad, the longtubes and spohn cross member made it a pain to drive at stock height so there's not as big of a change as you'd think. as for being on the bumpstops... its close, REALLY close

twin-turbo, the wheels are a bronze color, that is about twice as dark as the original bronze the magnesium wheels came in stock

Re: new rims and a drop - teaser pics!

Damn you have horrible ground clearance! But I say it's worth it! I can't believe that those wheels have evaded my knowledge for so long, care to give all the details on them i.e. size, width, offset, weight, tire sizes.

Re: new rims and a drop - teaser pics!

they are standard c5 (non-z06) wheel sizes and offsets, 17x8.5 up front, 18x9.5 out back with 56mm offset, backspacing i dont know but i use 1.75" spacers up front and 2" out back

as for weight they are 17.x each front wheels, and 20 or 21 each rear wheel, i saved 8 lbs per wheel over my c5 chrome wheels

Re: new rims and a drop - teaser pics!

yeah i will admit its WAY to low to dd, but the roads are decent enough around here that its not a problem for a car that gets driven once or twice a month maybe. i though it would be worse to drive than it is. new pics are coming you guys i promise, just got a new garage i've been setting up and have been real busy with that!

Re: new rims and a drop - teaser pics!

Those are my old wheels. Im glad your happy with them. I pmed you on ls1 tech after they were delivered to you asking how everything went but never got a reply.

I would like to see a side shot of the car also. I always wanted to put those wheels on my iroc but always had too much other stuff to do.

BTW guys those wheels are VERY rare here are a couple pics of them on my corvettes. I redid them b/c I bought 3 from a friend who broke one when he hit a curb then bought a replacement wheel off ebay to make it a complete set. They are like 300-500 per wheel, and the major thing is they are SUPER light as in like only 14 pounds each.

thought i replied on tech but i guess not?? my bad! yeah the wheels are great, the only reason i bought them was because they were in the pic w/ your iroc on the lift and i though hey they look good with maroon, and my car is pretty much the same color.

well I meant to color sand the car over break but it didn't get done so i'll throw up some pics that show the whole car, not perfect but better, the orange peel REALLY pisses me off, i need to sand it out. first pic is my favorite

Re: new rims and a drop - FULL pics!

If you are using spacers.. I would advise against them. I used wheel adaptors when I had y2k rims on my 87 vette. Spacers put unwanted load on the wheel studs and they can snap. Adaptors will prevent that from happening. Seems your front wheels need to come out just a tad bit more since they are too far inward. All in all the color looks great with your car!

i can't really bring the front wheels out more without them hitting the fenders...

Thank you! i think it's gonna really look good once i get the car sanded out

Oh yes you can, you just don't want to try. Pull or modify the liners, roll and slightly pull the fenders and a little hammering to the top of the wheel well, and maybe a little pounding on the battery tray (depending on your tire height) will get you all the fender clearance you could ever want.
