yeah i passed my written the first time around and i would have passed my driving the first time around. i managed to get through the entire test with flying colors and no problems but as i was pulling into the bmv parking lot i decided to try and turn left on a red light lol. nerves got to me but i had a bad day anyways, the bmv had the wrong adress on their website so i was late getting to my test and being nervous about taking it anyways had me pretty shaken up but ill get it on the 9th. hell its easy. really its just common since

Re: Is this 86 worth this money?
well i passed my test today and got my license, went to school but when i was walking out and got in my car everyone was all over it saying how sweet it was and wanting rides and just complimenting it lol, even as i was driving out on the street the kids walking were yelling at me that they liked my car xD, anyways i got my tranny leak fixed, my dipstick tube seal was done and one of my lines came undone so i fixed that, im thinking about picking up some new parts for it this weekend like a new ujoint, new tranny filter and gasket, new door locks since my passenger is messed up and a new set of lugnuts
. im happy. although i have my 3rd complaint, the headlights SUCK!!!

Re: Is this 86 worth this money?
well i figured something out...... that little v6 can and has suprised the **** out of me, going to my grandmas the other night i decided to jump on it coming down the street and i started to fishtail from where i broke the rear end lose and from a standing still at a stopsign i stomped it and it broke the tires lose and chirped them, i can rost the tires but i have to powerbrake with it to do it. also i was going to see apollo 18 today and while i was going to the theater i came up behind this buick who was going like 10 under the speed limit, well i passed him but after i got around him i went from 55, to 75 in very little time and it showed no sign of giving up. WOW. suprises me!!

Just be careful- I'd hate to see you lose the car so soon. At least get a couple girls in it first! ;-)

Re: Is this 86 worth this money?
havent updated for awhile. nothing much has changed on the car, i finally got my seatbelt guides, my tranny started leaking again from the dipstick tube seal, tranny pan seal leaking and one of my lines came loose and was shooting fluid so i replaced those seals and the filter today and its not longer leaking and i tightened that line, iv got all new weatherstripping on the way along with my door bumpers so that will be covered. only thing i cant decide if i wanna do is idk if i want to change my ujoints because as far as i can tell they are factory but iv been having a problem since iv owned the car and i want it gone lol. my car jerks and sounds like it clunks when i put my car in drive or reverse from park or vice versa. from what i looked up it seems like all this is normal for 86s because of something they didnt do right in this year?

How high is your idle? Most 700r4s jerk you hard into gear if your around 800 rpms it will be abrasive. Both mine did this, but I love my T5 lol.

Re: Is this 86 worth this money?
Brand new tranny mount and I checked it yesterday when I did my pan gasket and filter change. Still solid. Also is it ok that I can adjust my idle my adjusting my TPS it was idling around 550 before I changed it but after I lowered it the idle came up to about 750 but the idle was very touchy lol specially with the pedal but as I brought it up it dropped the idle and each time I messed with it my engine idle smoothed our majorly. Not slot if shake and it doesn't bounce around like it did

Re: Is this 86 worth this money?
well bad update, i wrecked my car today, just got out of school and was going to my grandmas for dinner but as i went to pull into the car ports at the back of her apartments i pulled in crocked, well as i backed up and turned so i could re align i failed to look in my mirror and didnt see one of the support poles and as i saw it at the last second it was too late and my brakes were wet so they didnt stop me soon enough. heres the result, it took it down to the metal... going saterday to get a estamit on what its gonna cost to fix. sucks too because i was amping up to store the car for the winter, my last plans before this were replacing the door locks, getting my exhaust re done, and all new weather stripping around the doors. well thats out the window since iv gotta repair this mess now....

Dude she will be back to new in no time... Definitely sucks though... I feel you on that.
Re: Is this 86 worth this money?
Good lord by the story I expected something bad. I've had worse stuff done to my cars when they've been parked.
It sounds like you aren't handy around tools yet? You could go to a body shop, get an estimate and then ask for $50 if they will bang it out a little, not perfect. Then, go get some 220 gritsandpaper and 1 can of rustoleum primer. Sand the areas where the paint is gone and prime it. You at least then are protected from rust. You could drive around like that as it doesn't really look bad.
IMHO, do that and wait another 6 months. This little bump you had is a good thing. Many kids need those to remind them that driving requires 100% attention 100% of the time. 2 of my 3 kids had similar little bumps and they became better drivers because of them.

Re: Is this 86 worth this money?
it stinks, but I was expecting much worse before I saw the pics.
if I remember right, your paint wasn't a clear coat, it was as single stage. Shouldn't be a problem to touch up.
good luck!

Well I did some work to that dent and put my touch up Paint on it so it matchs color and doesn't look so bad now. Anyways today's the one year anniversary for my grandpas death so I did a mean burnout as a dedication to him. Left over 60 feet of marks on the pavement.

Re: Is this 86 worth this money?
Well my grandpa was the reason for me getting into cars and for me getting this car, and he also had a habit of spinning the tired in his cars lol. He bought a brand new 08 impala with a 3.8 liter and within two weeks of having the car he roasted those new tires off lol. So it seemed appropriate. Left alot of smoke back there with my one wheel peel

Re: Is this 86 worth this money?
well guys i need some opinions as im stuck on what to do next. iv got three options that i can do to the car, well 4 i guess and idk what to do, i can either get my exhaust re done which is what im really leaning towards, i could get new shocks and tie rod ends, new weather stripping for the doors, roof rail seals and the one that goes around the door itsself, or i can get that dent messed with. which should i do? the exhaust and the shocks are the same amount, $150 for those so those are the big two i think i need to decide between, what to you guys think

Re: Is this 86 worth this money?
I guess it depends on what you need. What's the matter with the exaust that you want to spend money on it?
Are the shocks shot? Vibration while you drive?
Getting a lot of wind noise in the car? I replaced my weatherstripping, and it was a good upgrade to get less wind noise in the cab while I drive
the dent is cosmetic, but it just depends on what's the most important thing to you.
I would say the exhaust should wait until there is something dreadfully wrong with it

Re: Is this 86 worth this money?
nothings wrong with my exhuast, i just want duals and the reason i want it done is because its gonna cost alot which since my birthday is right around the corner im gonna have the money up front for it and iv wanted it for the 2 years iv had the car. as far as my shocks, yes i have a small vibration while driving and when i get in the car or am driving you can hear my shock or spring making a noise of not compressing correctly and it rides rougher than **** at low speeds. tie rod ends just need done from the last time i checked. weather stripping, yes i have a wind noise whole im driving at high speeds, like 45 up, and they leak when alot of water is pounding on them like whole washing the car, never noticed it before from rain or snow. and the dent i think im gonna do last.

Agreed. You'll rattle it apart before you get it fixed if you do it down the road
Also you need to get that weatherstripping fixed. ANY kind of leaks in these cars is a recipe for utter disaster. Ask me how i know. Hell ask most members how they know lol.
Your exhaust won't be true duals anyway more than likely, and even if they were they won't help your HP or torque any, really. They might sound cooler but you need to get the functional stuff fixed first.

Re: Is this 86 worth this money?
Yeah, because I think that would be best because I told my family that I'm gonna drive my car atleast once after it snows. If it scares me or I can't handle it she's gonna be parked in the garage and I'm gonna tear into it. New shocks, fistic ends, balljoints, brakes including calipers and drums.so that's why I'm having a problem. Also for my birthday I know I'm gonna have atleast $150 and that would get my exhaust done, but at Christmas I'm gonna have about $350 so I was gonna get my suspension and weather stripping then. But I know I need shocks and tie rod ends

push down really hard on the four corners of the car, then release fast. If the car comes back and settles quickly, (maybe one small bounce) your shocks are fine.

I have my 86s suspension for sale if your interested. Got Moog springs (5662/65, Probably should avoid these since you have a V6) and KYB AGX Adjustable fronts and GR2 rears. Let me know.
Anyways, I say tie rods first then shocks/struts. Forget the dual exhaust man. Waste of cash.
To me that ''dent'' looks really bad. Its a pain in the *** to get it back right and get the body line perfect. I did so to my old 92 and spent close to a week to get the body line good enough for my standards. Most shops around here will probably hammer and bondo it.

I might have sold them to a friend of mine but if he takes a while to get back at me then they are yours if you come get em sooner than him. Anyways, $180 for them. Front AGXs and rear GR2s. AGX are adjustable 4 way. 3 miles probably total on them. Yes they ride good but don't want to risk using them with my drop springs and have them go out early.
Let me know.
