Still got my plans for an lt1 lol I got my roof rail weatherstripping today aswell from soffseal. Very nice as always. If would have been smart I would would pulled the brand new weather stripping off that 90 before I junked it. Those were only 2 months old

Re: Is this 86 worth this money?
Well today's the first day she's left me stranded. Got out of school today and got in, I had lights, stereo and blower motor but as soon as I hit the key I lost all power, kept trying it and she was completely dead, I had 4 people trying to help me he her going and one even jumping me and I had nothing. Well my father in law came up to pick up my fiancé and he tried jumping me, let it sit for a few minutes while he reved his truck and I finally had enough power to start her and run her home. As soon assume hit the garage an I turned the key she never moved another inch. Still haven't figured out what happend, think it was because my positive battery cable was lose or something.

Re: Is this 86 worth this money?
Definitely check all your cables. I bought a 91 V8 5 speed with t tops in Indy last month and as soon as I hit 465 south it just flat out died. As soon as you turned the key everything in the car would die except for the temp gauge, which would peg itself to the max. It was the ground strap from the motor to the body and thank God I checked it, I was ready to abandon the car and go get my money back.

Sounds like it. If its not tight it will arc and corrode til it has a bad connection. Loosen and tighten a few times and I think you will be fine.

oh yeah, no weight on over the *** end and there a handful on wet surfaces, gravel, dirt, snow, ice is perilous unless your me, or ken block lol but these are great cars if you enjoy slightly drifting alot, if you got any roads around with hairpins and long sweeping corners, take her for a brisk drive, it'll be exhilarating, but dont crash

No we're not saying our cars suck at handling. We're talking about going out and playing in them and having fun lol. I'm running brand new Goodyear weather handlers and they have good traction till I get in it

goodyears are not the best tires for traction or "messing around", good economy commuter tires, yes.

I have 245/50-16 BFG G-force T/As and my car sticks to the ground like glue. Spinning tires is fun and all, but it's really about having power and having the ability to put it to the ground. I can take turns at 65 that my friend cant take a 50 with his 04 mustang and still be in complete control.

Re: Is this 86 worth this money?
got all my new seals on, roof rail and the door seals, i still need to adjust my windows though so that they align better into my new roof rails, i talked to my teachers at the career center and the mechanics teacher said he will do an alighnment on my car, so this weekend im getting my new strut mounts and my new struts put on and having that done but i also talked to my auto body teacher, oddly enough hes the guy who tinted my windows lol, anyways he looked at my dent and said that he can fix it and throw on some pin stripping so he doesnt have to paint the whole car and he can single it into that one area and make it alittle cheaper, he said i can get everything done for under $200, that includes the paint, pin stripping, body work, and what ever else. so im happy

Re: Is this 86 worth this money?
well i get my car back tomorrow, THANK GOD!!!!! i cant tell you guys how much iv missed my car, even driving that new car that would romp on mine and nicer i still miss my camaro more than anything, i cant part with this thing at all!!!! iv been down there every day, twice a day watching them and the body work is top notch for a school job and im really impressed, the paint matched up good and im just really happy, even the pin stripping looks really really good and i like it. only other things iv done is iv bought a replacement hatch bolt to repalce the one with the broken cover, and im about to buy a flowmasters 80 series muffler with 2 outlet pipes and my hatch stripping, im also looking at getting my spare tire area fixed since its rusted out then all i need is my seat repaired, my centercap emblem, and new lubnuts and my cars done till i drop a new engine in there besides some new LCAs, PHB, and subframe connectors. but after i get her home tomorrow ill take pictures.

Re: Is this 86 worth this money?
to this( during body work) you can kinda see the pin stripping, i really like it and ill post pictures tomorrow of the finished product, my only complaint is it look like they scratched the bumber cover while doing something but thats it, im extremly happy, and it only cost me $200, oh and i forgot to add, i got my new hatch bolt so i can get that old rusty one off that the cap broke off and i bought this new toy for it, its a flowmaster 80 series muffler with 2 1/2 in manderaline bend tailpipes, i cant wait to install that and hear it, next is headers!!!

it'll sound great at anything under 3500 rpms, after that it sounds to "light" not like a heavy rumble but still cool none the less, my 305 just sounds "throaty" with what i think is a super 44 but i'm gonna make my own nascar style boom pipe eventually

Re: Is this 86 worth this money?
That's the nice thing, my car rarely sees those rpms, unless I'm playing it shifts that High but normal driving is lower rpm shifting, hell even out cruising doing 60, my car never leaves 2500 rpm. I'm happy with it, I wanted an exhaust I can hear and have the tips showing out the back so I'm getting both, that stock muffler wasn't cutting it l

I have had a few 2.8's one i went all out with bored 30 over heads reworked double roller chain high volume high pressure pump edlebrock intake at the time i did it they made 3 cams stock mild and racing i took the mild with roller rockers chrome valve covers the only thing was i switched it from multiport to carb. i did shorty headers MSD ignition and the car had the 700r4. I did put a flowmaster on the car it was on there about a week i did not like the sound of it it sounded like a load of pissed off bummble bees but at an idle it sounded good. I like your car it brings back memories of mine.

yeah i keep tossing the idea around about beefing up the 2.8, iv looked at cams, head work, high compression pistons, headers, turbos, ect but everytime i look at it i think that with the money im putting into this, i could put into my lt1 so i never really spend on it, just maintence. but thank you, im kind of fond of what iv made her look like, alot better and different than when i first got her, man, that was almost 3 years ago
