New to the forums...86 Iroc-Z

Hey Guys. I'm new to the boards but not to F-bodys. Just wanted to give a little intro. I used to own a 92 Camaro RS, which I converted to a V8...First a 350 and then a 400. I went through that car up and down untill I got tired of tinkering and sold it off. I've had many cars in between including my 2007 Mustang GT which I still own. I lately wanted to get back into a third gen very badly, and found a deal on a clean 86 IROC that I couldn't pass up. Needed a little cleaning, but nothing that couldn't be done. It's a 305TPI, auto trans. I've already done a few mods thanks to a hook-up I have (my brother...WhiteDevilTA) haha...including 18" wheels, 4.10 Posi rear end, and a full 3" SLP exhaust. Future plans include a t-56 trans conversion, as well as swapping out the old 305 for something a little more potent. Keep an eye out for a build thread! Here's some pics for now.

lookin good man! That paint looks like its in pretty good condition if not new. the wheels also look pretty good but they just need Something to break up the chrome around the rim... Looks killer though. im guessing thats your stang in the backround right? Looks good to. So what plans you got for a motor swap?

Thanks man. The paint is actually only a few years old. The wheels were my brothers, and are supposed to go on his trans am when it's done, but he's still debating whether to use them or not. I can see where you're coming from about breaking up the chrome, but overall I'm happy with how it looks. That is my stang in the background. It's an 07 GT with a roush supercharger, but I'm hoping to blow it away with my camaro when it's done. I'm going to build an all motor lsx...that's certain, but the details are still pending.

i though that paint look dam nice! the wheels still look good though. i wish the 05-09 gt stangs had the 5.0, if so i would be all over them. i always loved ones with the shaker scoops, stripes, and rims. the roush and saleens are just flat out mean looking. any idea on what the stang runs currently? a mild modded ls1 swap should have no problem keeping up

Yea, the 5.0 is a potent little engine in the new stangs. I still like the body lines better on the 05-09's though. I had the stang to the track once on MT ET's and managed a 12.4 at 113 with a 1.8 60ft. Later that day I layed out a 1.59 60ft and missed third It probably would have been around a 12.1. Pretty quick, but yes...a slightly modded ls1 should take it, which is my goal!

ya, originally i liked the 10/11 stangs but i like the look of the 05-09 with the added cosmetics. so whats all addition along with the blower? defintly alot faster then most (excuse me ALL) stangs around here, most are the white and pink, pony package v6's that all the teens drive around thinking there in a ferrari, its rediculous lol. a stock ls3 in a weight reductioned thirdgen could probaly lay the smack on your stang...

Besides the blower at 6psi, the car has a full catless exhaust and 3.73 gears. Pretty fast considering what it is. The car is full weight...pig weight. Somewhere around 3700lbs. Haha...I know what you mean about the mustangs. There is a fair share around me. Kids who take their hand-me-down parents v6 mustangs and drive em like they are race cars. To each his own I guess. I'm leaning towards an ls2 right now, but it won't go in the car without a few bolt ons, and possibly cammed.

so are the internals pretty tought in the modulars then? i would be afraid of blowing the engine apart. defintly fast for what it its. mostly if a kid doesnt have a newish mustang then they have the older 98?-04 v6's or a rice burner lol. bolt on ls2 should have no problem
sorry about all the chit-chatting

The internals in the 3v modulars are good for around 500whp. Any more than that and you are testing fate. I'm around 400whp right now, so still have a good safety window. And no problem with the chatting

Thank you! and I hear ya. I'm going to enjoy the car for the rest of the summer, and once the weather starts getting crummy again, it's going away for the mods.
