24 Hours of LeMons Build. 88 IROC
Hey guys, I'm building an 88 IROC for the 24 hours of LeMons race at Button Willow on Dec 3/4. What is the largest 17" front and Rear wheel combo with offsets. I want to run a 315rr and 285ft.
Thanks for your help, Scott

Re: 24 Hours of LeMons Build. 88 IROC
Here is my entry submission and pic of my concept.
We are a group of guys that raced the Houston race in 2010 with Dan, Mike and Fish of Team Underground. We all are a part of **** Steambath Company (Hence “Team Steam”)Since then we have purchased a 1988 IROC off of craigslist from a pair of illegal aliens from the San Fernando Valley. http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff42/flyhiflylo/lemons/IROC.jpg
Submission was edited by 3rd Gen.... Too spirited.

Re: 24 Hours of LeMons Build. 88 IROC
It'll be a riot. I'll post tons of pics and vids of the build. I have 2 months to finish it. I have unlimited funds so it should be pretty killer for a "500.00" car.
What wheels and brakes should I get? I want to order these up in the next few days. What are the very best brakes we could throw on this thing? Are Wilwoods good? 12" rotors 4 piston? Are the vette brakes better?

Re: 24 Hours of LeMons Build. 88 IROC
Will 17x9 with 5.5 back spacing and 285 work on all 4 corners? I am going to buy 6 wheel/tire combos and it would be best if they worked the same on all 4 corners.

Re: 24 Hours of LeMons Build. 88 IROC
Here is some in-car from Houston... We ran a 300zx turbo. This racing is no joke... You are doing over 100mph at times. It is total racing for a great price. Plus it's a huge party. You can really get to your first race for about 4 grand car included with 4-6 drivers. Your racing for 12-16 hours. I don't know of any other racing were you can race on a sactioned track with TONs of competition for 500 bucks each for the whole weekend. LeMons racing is truly a great deal.

Re: 24 Hours of LeMons Build. 88 IROC
Just a youtube of me getting the POS -link in post #2.
I just ordered headers , Wilwood brakes, front to back bushings, air foil, Dynomax muffler and seat belts yesterday.
I also have Brian making the emissions free 93 octane chip this week too.
Today and tomorrow I'm going to order the radios, seat, helmet fresh air system, extinguisher, 4:10 gears and various gauges.
I'm going to try and find the build sheet and scan for you guys as soon as I start the cage system.

Just so we are clear on that.
Our club is also looking towards doing the 24hr lemons next year. Still looking for a car though. Our real goal is simply to compete on an even level (not necessarily win) and most importantly FINISH the race.
We want to finish this race car intact and with decent standing but we don't have to be #1, we don't expect to be #1.
Our club rents out Road America each year (used to be twice a year) for a full weekend to run a HPDE. Its always a blast to wheel around the track at speed even in a daily driver. The TransAm doesn't have the brakes to be safe, so I take the daily driver each year and the G6 is fun to toss around the track good handling, excellent chassis feedback too.

Yeah our goal is throw enough care and parts at the car so it's fun to drive and stays together. Our team has fair drivers but the only way to win is a 30 gallon tank and only 4 drivers with ZERO penalty laps.
I've raced a fair amount of things before and I will testify... Nothing beats the bang for buck as LeMons. Carting is great bang for buck but it's short bursts. Plus LeMons it's just a totally relaxed environment. If something breaks and it takes an hour to fix that's okay... Still PLENTY of track time. And getting trashed at night is not only encouraged, it's practically mandated. LOL

Ordered the incar and pit radios today. From PCI race Radios. While ordering I also got a GO-Pro with all the extra doo dads and a fresh air systems for my helmets.
Plus I ran the VIN on the car and it has the L98 in it. Sweet!

For the GoPro get the extended battery (BacPac), it will run for 4 hours with it. Might as well get 3-4 extra batteries as well.

Looks like a fun project. Be sure to post pictures of your progress. I would love to see them.
One day me and my buddies need to do this... We both have spare engines. He has a 302 and I have a 350. And I have access to welders.

This year we are offering big discounts to encourage pre-registration so we don't come up short like we did last year.
But we've never cancelled an event yet.

Doors lightened to about 15lbs. When you do this you have to remove the hinge spring and detent.
