My 85 Trans Am
Finally I got this beast home around a month ago,Pretty solid for $1200 and a '94 Corolla which was worth around $800.There is nothing really wrong with it except it needs a coolant reservoir, need to adjust carburetor and fabricating interior,This car has been worked on and its packing around 425 HP
Haha I love cars but dont know how to work on them,So I am slowly moving forward and exploring the car. But I am planning on getting the whole thing rewired under the hood because there is a lot of cutting and taping,Anybody know how much this is going to cost me?
The car got a 350 Small block,Nice breathing headers, high rise intake,350 Transmission and a lot of other stuff I cant explain(Like i said,I dont know much about cars lol)
Well leave ur comments and what not....

Re: My 85 Trans Am
Im in the same boat, love cars but not enough knowledge to work on them. Bought my t/a with little "car knowledge" hoping to learn on and so far so good. Still learning though, with every chance I have. Anything you need help on this site can help...not to mention you may get lucky and find some locals with 3rd gens that can help you out as well. Good luck and sweet deal on the car!

Nice car man! I kind of see what you mean about the wiring though. That is not uncommon with these cars. Just to warn you, keep those spark plug wires as far away from the header tubes as you can get them. They look like they're pretty close and it will burn through the insulation in a matter of minutes.

Re: My 85 Trans Am
get yourself some of those wire seperators, they bolt on your valve cover bolts and will help keep your wires off the tubes, plus make it look more organized. you can find those at any local auto parts store. by the way, why is there no lenses on your taillights, looks kinda wierd like that, but not really bad though either.

I agree the wiring arrangement in the engine bay is a fire waiting to happen. Otherwise nice car.
He means your missing the outer clear lenses that are supposed to cover what you currently have on the car. Look at a close up of 85-90 tail lights and you will see.

Re: My 85 Trans Am
It's really hard to say how much that might cost. Since your car has a different motor swapped in it's not going to be as simple as taking an engine wiring harness off a junk yard car and swapping it in. It's basically a custom application. Now as far as the exterior lighting and stuff goes you can swap in a new harness from a junk yard car. It kind of depends on what wires have been cut up.
