Can I get a good 14sec with this new setup?

92 RS Camaro, title says 3198lbs
350 (.060" over, so 360cu)
9:0 CR (flat top pistons)
76cc open chamber heads (624/993 castings, mixed)
Crane Blazer 284-2H (284/294 adv dur, 224/234@ .050", .465"/.488" lift) with matching valvesprings
Edlebrock Performer Intake
Holley 600CFM VS, 5lbs pressure via Mallory regulator and stock electric pump
Accel Distributor, Super coil, 8mm wires, and shorty plugs
14x3 K&N open-element sitting on 1" spacer
3" Cowl induction fiberglass hood
Fresh TH350 with B&M stage 2 kit and 2200 stall converter
Hedman shorties straight to 3" Dynomax pipe to Flowmaster 80 series, it's quite loud.
2.73 non-posi rear, new ZR directional 225/55 tires on rear, so 26" height
A/C intact and working awesome, it's really hot down here.

Interior is sorta stripped, just 2 American racing vinyl bucket seats

I've left off the TH350 kickdown cable, car doesn't seem to need it. Even with the 2.73 gear it really moves. Haven't taken the throttle over 1/2 yet for fear of breaking the stock rear end.

I used to run a 81 Z28 with a smaller cam, 3.42's non-posi and 200HP nitrous boost, it could do a 13.0.

I realize I'll never make 3rd in the 1/4 with the 2.73 rear.

It looks and sounds mean, but will this thing run at the 1/4 track or will it be a joke without a gear upgrade?

I think you'll be safely into the 14's. Be sure to practice your launch - I bet it's hard to get traction without a posi rearend.

Sounds like you have a somewhat similar set-up to mine. My cars weighs 3700 with me. I have 3.23s without posi and ran here in Saskatoon (1700 ft) 14.69 @ 92 on ET Streets. With considerably less weight, but also less gear and a lower stall you should probably be in that neighborhood for ET and trap in the 95 mph range.

My guess is that once you get it tuned and your launch down you should be under 14.5 (altitide corrected) and with tires, gears, and posi would be really low 14s.

Let us know what happens.

That means nothing. Find a scale somewhere and drive across it. Find out what the car weighs with you in it. Make sure the car is set up exactly the way you'll be going down the track. 1/2 tank of fuel, helmet, no spare tire or jack etc.

That will give you a race weight. Third gens are very heavy. Very few have a race weight of less than 3300 pounds unless they've been stripped. Most are in the 3500-3700 pound range.

Bump your fuee pressure up to 6-7 psi. 5 is too low. Your 2.73 gears are going to hurt you. You'll need something in the 3.xx range.

Trevor: I need to get to Saskatoon next year. Everyone tells me I'd like the track. I hear the shutdown area goes on forever. If my car passes a chassis tech inspection in the spring and I get my competition license for NHRA I may make the trip.

I've raced cars with 2.56 gears down the track, so I know what 2.73 will do to me and with my added 200lbs of weight. I was basically asking if my motor had enough HP to push it into the 14's using only 1st and 2nd gears, it certainly feels like it does. I've seen many cars with low rears pull fast ET's. Plus the 2.73 helps a tad with the traction.

I'll bump my fuel pressure like you say. I do plan I upgrading the rear gear in the future, 3.42/3.55/3.73 is what I'm thinking. But it's my daily driver so I think 3.73's are out with a 60mph cruise over 2900rpm.

I have to disagree with you on the car's weight. I've seen titles be wrong before, under and over. Camaros do weigh less than Firebirds, I've owned many of both. And I actually believe the title on this 92 being around 3200 without me. When I wax it, the sides of the entire car "cave in" the metal is so thin. The stock metal hood is so weak it's been dented just by latching, it's basically the weight of my new fiberglass hood (to make the motor fit). On my wife's 89 Firebird, I can lay across the hood and relax, it's built like a tank. I can easily push the Camaro up a driveway unaided. I don't have a chance with the Firebird.

LO3BIRD: Is there a track nere by you that you can get to yet this year?

Stephen: It would be great if you made the trip to SIR. I think that I read in another post that you are switching to Super Pro at Race City. Our Pro/Super Pro are as follows:
Super Pro: 7.50 - 11.99; .500 Full Tree; Electronics Allowed.
Pro: 7.50 - 13.99; .500 Full Tree; No Electonics.

Yes, a Moroso motorsports park, free test and tunes on Wednesdays. I just have to seal a couple leaks (I beat the oil pan for 3 hours with an axe to make the Heddmans fit) and get the rubber fuel line down to 6 inches (I'm using the Mallory regulator with stock TBI fuel pump).

Will let you know what happens.

After experiencing an LED tree, I decided I need to use a delay box to cut a good light now. The car just reacts too fast to judge the lights. My red lights were closer to perfect than my green lights were.

Using a box now puts me in SuperPro. Race City is going IHRA next year so my class designation will either be called Box, Electronics or Mod ET. To most of us it's still just SuperPro. I could run in Super Street next year and I'm knocking on the door of Super Gas but throttle stop racing doesn't interest me at all.
