Wonder if the guy in the far lane made to through the next round, since guy in near lane probably got DQ'd for crossing center line!
Wet look is just the apperance of the rubber laid down on track surface that does'nt get ran on...shiney rubber is not the groove and veery slickery, been there done that but got lucky!!
You happen to see that other video on that site of the guy starting his burnout, ran right through the christmas tree, LOL! Hopefully he did'nt get hurt!

It looks deceiving but I'd say it's not wet. Look along the guard rail. That's dry pavement. If it was wet, it would be the same shiny color all the way to the guard rail.
I doubt 2 Promod cars capable of running low 6's would even attempt a pass on a wet track.

Doesn't look wet to me.
However, that "safety" truck got out there way, way too soon! No way he should have been out there while the cars were still in motion.

) they are supposed to sit in their truck and wait while the pro-classes go down the track, just in case. Joined: Mar 2000

They weren't sitting at the side of the track at the end, they drove onto the track, between the Jersey dividers, while those two cars were still careening around between them, absolutely out of control. They had no business going out on the track until after the cars had stopped moving.

Could've been alot worse, who do ya call when the safety safari gets injured??
Probably a younger inexpereinced crew that let adrenaline over come common sense and I'm sure they were spoken to after eerything had calmed down.
That is a big reason I think guys should get some seat time with slower rides, before just throwing caustion to the wind and letting it all hang out, too many things going on for any inexpirenced driver to react to since they do not have the focus mastered quite yet.

Hm maybe someone missed a huge spill in the middle of the track from a previous pass? Seems kind of coincidental they would lose it in the same spot at the same time, then again those engines probably are making nearly identical power #'s with identical gearing, maybe both just overpowered the track?

if the wind blew them out of the groove, then i could see it happening...
but i saw it and damn, it really did look like they (for some stupid reason) ran on a track where it was wet out of the groove....
crazy though.

Can't see much in the left lane, other than getting out of the groove to the right (camera seems to have been concentrating on the '57), but it looks like the '57 put something down, or hit something, just to the left of the groove when it headed to the right (which doesn't make a lot of sense). The left tire of the '57 left a track as it zipped over to the right.
I'm sure those two teams and HRP are spending a lot more time figuring this out than we are.

Not that I think the track was wet but figured I would tell you all my experience.
One of my last days at the track this season that was plagued with rain all year.. grrrrrrr. Anyway was in staging lanes as first car in my class was pulling up to heat em up some, when a heavy sprinkle had started - as soon as it hit it had made about a 20% surface coverage instantly on car and road that you could not mistake and surely have to feel.
Well the tree man, 2 track helpers and moron driving the 10 second chevelle all let him continue as I am trying to get their attention - in total confusion as to why anybody is letting this happen.. Well it did, and just past the 60ft, he almost hit opposite guardrail, coming back to almost hit his own, and spinning around very luckily.
Then the anouncer praised the expert driving skill of the fearless racer who controlled the beast. I thought it was pretty stupid my self as I could see rain on mine and his cars....

Exactly, thats my home track. Definitely one of the best in the country, and definitely one of the fastest. They are very cautious, especially with cars like that on the track. they definitely would NOT be running if it was even the slightest bit wet.
