i just put it togather after getting out run thursday night with out setup. no big deal but me and this guy have always raced.always been back and forth. my old setup was a 89 formula 5speed with stock vortec 350, holley 650dp, summit stage one intake, shortie headers into dual 2.5 in and posi 3.73. best of 8.6 @83 in 1/8. my new is 89 formula 5 speed with 350 with 9.75 cr, trick flow heads, perform rpm intake, xe274, rollar rockers, holley 650dp, shortie headers into duals 2.5 in and posi 3.73. what you think?

 

im runnin a 350 w/ vortec heads and xe274 and i 1/8'd 8.4 with a 2.260ft on junk street tires.... the cam has alot of midrange grunt and needs traction to be very effective

my time slip doesnt say 1/8 mph for whatever reason sorry..

 

it run a 12.985 @ 102.38 cutting out. with a 1.993 60ft bogging a little. it ran hard to the 1/8 mile 8.304 @86.69. after that starts cutting out. wish i knew why.

 

whats your ignition look like?? also, whats your fuel system?

 

This motor been in two cars. Doing the same thing. First car had msd 6al and 8an fuel line with holley black pump set at 7 psi. Car now has summit hei dist and cap with stock tbi fuel pump set at 6 psi. The carb is the only thing both cars had on them 750 dp. in other car it made one full pass on street tire and run 105.99. really need some help

 

anyone could carb cause this problem?

 

usually if it cuts out, its the ignition or a lean condition. HEI's are not the best thing to use for a performance motor. and 1 psi of fuel pressure makes a difference. bump up the pressure to 7psi and see what happens. if it makes no difference, ignition. thats the easiest way.

 

Check your float level on that carb as well while your tinkering with everything.
