Re: Third Gen in Jan.Hot Rod

Congrats!!!

You have got a real sleeper. Nice!

I just ran across it this week. There are a few other thirdgeners in there also.

On page 44 & 47 there is a 82 Firebird painted close to the same as your camaro pulling a U-Haul trailer.lol

Also a red 85 T/A on page 65.

Did you get to talk to any of these guys? Are they members at thirdgen?

Carcraft Jan 2010 issue page 83 is a black/red 82 T/a with a 406 competeing in the Real Street Eliminator. I think I have seen it here at thirdgen also.

Re: Third Gen in Jan.Hot Rod

The white Firebird was a twin turbo SBC with Pontiac heads. It was real fast but for the last few years (including this year) he scattered the transmssion. He got it back going this year with parts from another racer. He would have won that class but he decided to run it all out (he only needed a 13-14sec) pass to win.. but transbraked it and blew the trans right there.. rolled to a 2nd place.
I wish he'd have made a safe pass and then ran it full out. Oh well. Nice guy!
Hope he comes again next year with a bullet proof trans. That car Hauls the mail!

The red Firebird is Nino.. he lives close to me and we've known each other for years.
I think he's going to switch set-ups for next year but he was torn on what to do.
His runs a 400ish inch sbc on a lot of bottle and race fuel. He took out the seats in his car at every track.. Lol.

I'm not sure if they are on ThirdGen or not.

I love the people and sportsmanship on Drag Week.. I'll be making this my every year event for sure!

Very nice, What about the firebird that hauled the U-haul trailer? Talk about your street cars.

Re: Third Gen in Jan.Hot Rod

The Huber Mustang was amazing.. He had trans trouble through the drives and the week but they know that car in and out.. they've owned it since 79. He and his dad are super cool guys and the car is awsome!

The white firebird I mentioned above would have won the pro street catagory but again had transmission trouble.

I don't have a torque arm in my car anymore... or lower control arms either
And that's also how I got put in Modified power adder (Non stock rear suspension)

Its mind boggling that the turbo 4 stang was doing high 8 second passes and getting 25mpg or whatever it was...

John Huber.. I agree... they are super cool guys too. They go to the Ford events
and enter the "Small block power adder" catagory and spank V8's It's awsome!
They've been working with that car a long time and it shows.. very very neat!
Talk about some HP per CID!!!!!! Makes my V6 look like Turtle!

Re: Third Gen in Jan.Hot Rod

How do you think I feel about my 6.6L V8??? sickens me to think I'm a second slower than a motor over half the size of mine.......

Re: Third Gen in Jan.Hot Rod

I don't think either of us have been working on our cars since 1979 either.

And it's a Ford.. Lol....

If you do the rough numbers 1000hp at 178cid is roughly 5.8 HP per CID? Is that right?

I realize some small import engines accomplish the same thing but you don't see them

driving 1000+mi on Drag Week and handing people in Small Block Power Adder their A$$.

Kudo's to him and his dad... Bitch'n car.

Well, no offense to him, but a lot of his videos are complete BS.

That is supposedly a Twin Turbo Diesel Corvette, but listen to that crappy edit job. No start up, no idle, you just instantly hear a Cummins Diesel revving away.
