Lift off hood w/ Dzus Fasteners.
What a pain in the ***, we replaced the factory hood (58lbs) with a Harwood lift off hood (15lbs). We used 4 Dzus's on the sides & 2 in the front
It took repositioning the hood brackets 2 times, as well as measuring every fastener every time we drilled. We finally got it done & it looks pretty damn sexy. (still was a pain in the ***)

racecraft makes dzus rails for these cars and now mounting dzus fasteners is much easier

A lift off hood is a pain when you have a fuel cell in the front and need to take the hood off after ever run. It's also a large hood and usually needs 2 people to handle it. My hood still opens with the factory hinges but I use hood pins and Dzus fasteners at the front.

Looks really good. Definetely worth the trouble! Post some more pics of it after you get the car back outside.

Hinges here. It's worth the extra 10lbs to not have your hood blow away. I'm under the hood after every pass checking out everything. But there is nothing wrong with a dzus'd hood.

I pull my cowl on/off all the time by myself, my car is pretty low though which makes it a bit easier to get a hold of.
That said, I'm changing a few things about how my front clip goes on, and will from now on will be leaving the hood attached and just pulling the entire front clip off. - It will actually be less hardware than the hood.

Yeah its a pain in the *** to put it on and off, but after removing 26lbs by installing Aerospace brakes, and removing all the radiator support bs, (50lbs), then finding out the factory hood is 57lbs. I think I can deal with some bs dzus fasteners. I can lift it off my self, but theres usually someone there to help out. All in all, we removed 130+ lbs off of the front end, and thats after we added in the other goodies. BTW did ya see my 10.16 run??? F**K yea!!! Direct port n2o coming up.

We removed the front bumper, (25lbs). Nose cone to radiator support metal,(15lbs). We also removed the factory radiator support, the headlight motors, and brackets (10lbs). We even weighed the nuts and bolts that held everything together,(1.5lbs). These numbers are rounded off, but they are acurate.

i couldn't use one to keep up in 3rd gear with my old vortec motor, i can't imagine 2 keeping up with his builds, i'd drop from 7psi to 2psi at the top of 3rd with that thing. They're fine for nitrous that's about it.

I had a nice "electronics tray" that sat on the passenger side floor board, but me and my tuner both agreed that spark energy next to a stand alone computer system may have some electronic interference that could effect performance so we moved it far away from the computer.
