Does A 12.1 Sound Reasonable?

hi, i just picked up another camaro, an 88 sport coupe, w/ a tbi 350 out of an 88 chev truck, guy said the engine was completely redone, eagle rods, eagle pistons, comp cam, comp cams head internals, etc, from what i can see on the surface it's got shorty headers, and an msd iginition system, stock tb and intake, a dress up kit, and always ran on premium, it's got a t5 w/c, and a posi ear end, not sure on the ratio though, and an exhaust system, inside he stripped the rear seats out, and built a custom stereo setup, and put in racing seats w/ 4 point harnesses, a bunch of other cosmetic stuff too, what i'm wondering is when i picked it up he said it was 380hp and 355 ft/lbs of torque and ran a steady 12.1 at the track, i'm up in canada so the roads haven't been good enough to try her out yet, just wondering if people think, given the size of the car, the hp/tq, if it's right, and what i know and assume is in it, if a 12.1 sounds right, threw a couple pictures of the engine and car in.

tough to make a good assessment without better specs, but i'd say that's a bottom 14 sec car as it sits.

I was going to say somewhere in the mid 13's as well. Low 12's are unlikely IMHO.

i see 380whp running a 12.1, but i don't see that combo putting down 380whp without some go-go juice

After re-reading it NO WAY! Here is what really stands out...

got shorty headers, t5, stock tb and intake

A stick car with a stock TBI intake and throttle body. I think low 14's is a closer guess now(which is still quick!)

Re: Does A 12.1 Sound Reasonable?

thanks for the input everybody, going through my old e-mails to the guy i got it from he did mention getting some work done to the throttle body and different fuel pump, he said he had some work done to the stock intake as well because he could only find one aftermarket tbi one and didn't think it was worth it, i don't do alot of tbi stuff myself, every one i've ever had i just left stock, or did an engine swap on, i can tell she's a snappy car for sure, just from pulling it off the trailer, just wasn't sure if the number's he was saying were plausible, no track experience myself so wasn't sure, and the day after i got it we got hit with over a week of -40 and solid snow so it kind of disappeared lol so haven't been able to play with it, i got the car from trading an 80 firebird i got for 1500 for an 02 sunfire for my wife and a done out integra, then trading the integra for this, he was asking 6500 for it, so either way i figure i got the car for $500 or so anyway lol.

Re: Does A 12.1 Sound Reasonable?

Not to be rude but 6500 for that car is a rip off. Probably a 14 second car but maybe a 13 if the stars align.

*key point*

If they were anything other than the stock TBI heads it would be mentioned. Even with giggle gas I doubt those swirl port heads are moving over 300hp, 200-230 NA is about all they will flow.

Re: Does A 12.1 Sound Reasonable?

ya i figured 12.1 didn't sound right, he was asking 6500 just because there's receipt's for over 11,000 into the car, but when i list a car that i want to get 3000 for i'll usually list it at 5000 obo lol, so that's probably what he was doing, but like i said i pretty much got the car for free through trading so i can't really complain, i'll have to go through all the receipt's and see what all is in the car, pop off a valve cover and check head castings, etc, when the snow is off of it, should give me alot better of an idea what i'm dealing with.
