Thirdgen Drifting Action down at the Drift Session

Every second saturday of the month there is a Drift Session down at HRP. Anyone who wants to see some thirdgen action is welcome to come check it out. Just post here to check if Chris or I are going to be there. This weekend Sat will be the April Drift Session 2 lapping event. 10am - 3pm, I think $10 to watch. Chris will be unveiling his new creation (but not complete yet) pushing 400hp!!. My car wont be out there since I'm still doing a tranny swap (car in my sig). Anyone interested in testing their traction limits (good exercise for roadracing), seeing the whacky things we do with our 3rd gens, or even giving drifting a try is encouraged to come check it out. Check www.driftsession.com for more event details (and driver rules). See you there!

Hmm, this saturday, eh? Maybe I'll skip the junkyard and head over to HRP instead.

Hmm, have to skip that police officer training thing too... that's $10 either way so I guess it doesn't matter.

If I do go, I'll probably be in my beater '79 blazer. Don't know if my 'bird is in good running condition right now, need to check her over tomorrow night.

Rev, will you be competing or just showin' off your car?

Laters,
Scott

Well most of the day is just free runs and theres a small competition at the end of the day. But anyways my car will be there drifting. It'll pretty much be my test & tune day. I gotta remember to bring some tools.

Well I just gotta post & say that it was cool to finally meet Chris & Sean. Chris, thanks for letting me ride in you Camaro. Man oh man did I have fun. This was my first visit to Drift Session & all I gotta say is wow. To anyone who has just seen drifting from far or on videos, it's a whole different ball game when you actually go to these drift sessions to get a closer look. Even better if you bring a helmet & hop a ride with someone. I feel like a kid again, like the first time I went to the track to watch drag racing. After riding in Revlimits Camaro, I found out a lot of things that I never knew Camaros could do. Crazy, your ride is even sweeter up close & in person. I'm definetely gonna go to another drift session in the future. Thanks for all the fun guys & the warm welcome into the sport. Laterz.

Well I just gotta post & say that... I couldn't find HRP! D'oh! Oh well, maybe next time.

I don't get lost easily, but I've never been to that part of the island before in my life. That area smells like a sewer... kind of like kailua, haha.

Scott

Drifting - that's like a distant cousing to Autocross, right? But, instead of trying to stay glued to the course, your objective is to... slide around in a quasi-controlled manner, correct? If I had to pick motorsport for my car, it would be autocross, with some drag tossed in liberally - I just can't see making my car slide around on purpose...! Oh, well, still want to check it out sometime and the wife is even interested too.

Believe me Ian. I am a hardcore enthusiast of just drag racing & just enjoyed watching drifting on videos. But to actually experience it with someone who knows what he's doing is an awesome feeling. The thrill of feeling like crashing without the crash. lol! I don't think I would get into it cause it's really not my thing & also because of an accident that i got into a loooong time ago with my wife in the car from street racing, but I have a new found respect for something that seems so out of control but people manage to keep it "somewhat" in control. If you go & check it out bring a helmet or borrow one & ride with an experienced drifter & trust me, you won't be sorry!

Hey thanks man. By the look of that map, I think I wasn't too far off! Maybe the next time I try I'll be right on the money. Though, the next time I try to find it, it'll be in daylight.

I went looking for it late friday night. I apparently got close, found a LOT of highway racers, and a LOT of cops....

It just pisses me off that I couldn't find something. Next time for sure, I'll be there. I'll bring a helmet and a map!

Laters,
Scott

No worries! The next one will be on May 30th, but its going to be at night. Still $10 to watch I think. Got a good feeling my car will be there so I'm pretty excited. Glad you had fun Anthony. Sorry I was so out-of-it ... need to get more sleep next time ...

Yeah drifting is pretty much a controlled slide. Loss of traction can be scary, but just like doing a burnout or a fishtail its really fun heheheh.

If I make it out to the May drift session then I'll hopefully be doing better. Last time was the first time I ever really drove that car and damn what a difference an extra 130 or so hp makes
