Hypertech Chip
From Summit part # HYP-127041 there price $169.95 plus shipping.
I have one I want to sell. I bought my car in April, I was the 3rd owner. I didnt think anyone would have upgraded the computer chip so I bought the HYP-12742. I paid $180.00 for that one. When I took the cover on the ECU......Im like
. My loss your gain make me an offer and I'll ship it out UPS insured.
No scam....PM me I'll give you my cell # and you can call me to see if I'm legit! Reasonable offers only please. I do except PayPal.
Or money order. Personal check I will wait till it clears then I will ship out.
****from Summits site****
Very little work, and a lot of performance.
These Street Runner Power Chips are replacements for your GM computer's stock PROM, or memory chip, which holds the factory settings that control your fuel flow and spark advance. These Power Chips replace the factory settings with performance-oriented ones. These Street Runners are for stock cars; they provide maximum power at wide-open throttle and delay converter lockup for smoother shifting, but don't affect the idle or part-throttle settings, so your mileage and emissions aren't affected.

You'd probably have a lot more luck trying to sell it if you listed what particular year and engine combination it's for. Also, just for reference, they rarely sell on here for more than $50.

well, all the ppl have to do is look up the part # on www.summitracing.com
1987, 5.0L TPI, Automatic.
I guess your info at the left hand side doesnt mean anything.

Well, happy hatchin' then I guess. There's a reason all the guys in the prom burning board call them "hypercrap" instead of the proper name. Also, I don't know how often you sell things online, but most people are too lazy to look up part #'s when it's easier for the seller to just list the application. The only reason I ever go to the trouble to look up the part # is just to make sure the person posting the ad didn't make a mistake. In fact, I got a fairly rare original 69 camaro power window setup off ebay, which is worth $1000 or better, for a mere $500 because the guy didn't have pics of it right on the listing. Instead, he had a link to the pics. Most bidders are too lazy to go to the trouble to type in a web link in this day and age of "convenience". My bad I guess. Who am I to try and give some helpful advice eh?

it was helpful advice he gave you dude, chill out. seriously you might as well sit on it because, they are pretty crappy and frowned upon by about the whole board.
All they do is bump timing and lower temps a litte (in generalities that is), why do you think they tell you *for use with premium fuel only*? it's just to keep you from pinging... Sure they add power but, you could add more with just a little knowhow, a wrench ,and afpr if you realy wanted...
Anyways good luck with the sale no hard feelings, it's just rude to shoot someone down because, they try and give some helpful info.

Well I think maybe he could have sent me a PM instead of shooting my post down dont you think?
That would have been the best thing to do.
I dont mind the advice. But to get a chip burnt....you pretty much need to have it dynoed. Then they can burn you a chip compared on where they think you need the power. And that cost money to.
If anyone still wants this PM me. I have had no trubles with the chip.
And I dont have to run 91 octane in it if I dont want to. It runs just fine on mid-grade.

most likely because, your efi engine is acting as it should, it sensed some detonation that occured and retarded the timing through the knock sensor. So basically the advanced ignition timing they are adding through the chip could be a non plus, might wanna think about a higher grade fuel if that's what's recomended.
You can tune chips without a dyno though, unless you get crazy modding your efi engines.
The thing is tuning a stock computer isn't worth a lot without big mods, little to no gains are seen and those that are will be approaching closer to the saefty limitations that gm engineers set (for the most part).
G/l with your sale and sorry for storming your post.

no problem thanks for the info. I was told by a guy who burns chips also...that it needs to be hooked up to get a proper dyno read. Its nothing he can just make up out of no where.
Yeah my 5.0L is a little screamer. I put that 3.73 gear in and she goes pretty good.

Hey I got to thinking about how I went about giving "advice" on your post, and I have to agree it was rude of me to put it right on your thread instead of sending you a pm. I do apologize, and I didn't mean to bash on you intentionally. Here's a bump for ya and good luck on selling it!
