This is a local guy running a t88 on a stock 32v cobra motor. (stock as far as the heads, cam, bottom end is strong of course.) I thought it would give you some incouragement for when your car is done.

ya, thats the same size turbo that Guido has

difference is that the DOHC cobra was made to rev and loves boost

and

Guido's 400" has tiny heads and a hydraulic cam....so he's not making his goals very large so that way he can kick the crap out of them

I SURE WOULD love to go that fast but we will see. I keep saying 9.80's for myself but everyone else tells me its going to be faster than that.

*shrug*

Ill chose modest at this point.

Yes mine is a T88.

I think I've seen that mustang before. If it's the same one I'm thinking of is it not putting out something like 1400hp?

For a second I thought you said it was a stock cobra motor, then I saw you wrote "stronger bottom end". which is good because around 500 rwhp they usually rip the piston off the spindley lookin rods. we have built both turboed an supercharged cobras and have seen it happen. Ron Anderson Products (maker of power pipes for superchargers) said they have found the same thing. none we built were 9 second rides, daily drivers running 11's at 6000 feet was all.

Alternative Auto got stock cobra motors to live for a long time. Or so they say.

I got to see one of their cars at Cyberbrawl a couple years back a green notchback 5.0 stang with a cobra mod motor in it and a t-trim vortech. They were running 26psi unintercooled boost into a stock block. They claimed that all they did to the block was add shims under the valve springs to bump up their pressure rating. They were revving the engine to 7800 rpms. They DID have a speed pro and large injectors. Ford 9", full cage, custom stepped headers but the motor they claimed was a stock motor. They ended up breaking a piston at that race because they were experimenting with higher rpm shift points. They said they pulled the rod out of the bottom of the piston, but didnt break a piston due to boost.

Is that amazing or what? That says alot about the durability of the combra mod motor if treated good.
