possible sale or trade of pretty much complete "junkyard" turbo setup
possible sale or trade of pretty much complete "junkyard" turbo setup
I guess i'll list what i have and then why i'm thinking about selling.
2 .60/.63 turbo coupe T3s. These are both rebuilt and in perfect shape. Should last as long or longer than any new one. Here's a link to some pics http://www.cecoatings.com/images/CarStuff/91vert/tts/
Custom Frount mount intercooler. I got this made from three saab 900 cores i picked up on ebay. Its pretty damn cool lol. two 2.25 inch inlets at the bottom and a single 3inch outlet at the top. It fits in a third gen quite well with a little modification needed to a piece of sheetmetal in the battery tray right behind the headlights. There's a hole there, but you have to make it bigger to fit the 3inch pipe through. Pictures of this below...

Exhaust manifolds are not complete yet, but i'll be finishing them up this week with the idea of using them myself. They are made from L98 exhaust manifolds and modified like 89JYturbo has done. I've ground off all the serial numbers and cut and ground off all the little blocks that stick out of the stock castings. They're clean and smooth looking. I've got a link to a picture of 89JYturbo's. KEEP IN MIND, THESE ARE NOT MINE. I don't have any pics of mine yet but if someone is interested i can take some when i finish them up. just waiting on some flanges that mark is sending me. http://www.cecoatings.com/images/oth...0Manifolds.jpg
I can get mine ceramic coated as well by TPI383 and plan to do so unless someone wants this setup without it coated for some reason.
I have a BLITZ blow off valve i picked up along the way, actually i got it from 89JYturbo if i remember correctly. Its pretty hefty. He said it doesn't whistle but just whooshes air. I haven't had a chance to give it a test for sound.
Basically, i have a complete turbo setup sans piping. I actually feel like this smilie
saying that and then mentioning i might want to get rid of it. I mean, its almost there.
My car has been broken for a good month. Two of those most recent weeks it was back together and could have been running except that I had terrible issues with the EFI swap. My under dash wiring isn't the same, i fixed that...i can't get one of three laptops and two cables to talk to the ecm. And i'm having a terrible time making any computer other than one at my buddy's house register that the chip burner is there ( this computer is now in florida cause he's gone to school). On top of that, this car had a huge cam when i bought it and the computer, with a SUPER AUJP burn can start it but can't make it run for more than 5 seconds without it dying and I can't log anything so i have no idea what's going on. Its way too much cam for a person who has never burned a chip before to try dial in. so....I've taken off the fuel injection as of last night and i'm putting on my original carb stuff today. The project has not been a bust though as I have got the new heads on the car, which effectively lower my compression to around a calculated 8.7-8.8. Having a carb and the low compression leads me to think i might want to throw a roots blower on it. A real bolt on system like a 6-71 or even as big as an 8-71 if that's what someone had though that would be way over kill and need to be under driven like mad. THIS IS THE POSSIBLE TRADE IDEA
So any emails or responses you guys might give me will direct where I'm going with this. I suppose I could deal with the NA low compression motor until winter and then swap in a stock cam (anyone got a stock L98 or LT1 cam lying around??)and try EFI again. This really makes the most sense but the blower idea came to me while i was cussing out fuel injection and unfortunately praising my idiotic holley double pumper. I'm stuck in the middle of two hot places lol.
I know its not a tech thread...well sorta. I'm just so fed up i needed to vent and i know you guys well enough to know you'll have some ideas i could mull over as well.
IN summary, I want to be told to stick it out with the EFI and turbos OR i want an offer on what i've got together for the turbo system OR i want to trade in some manner for a roots blower.

Do you have any pictures of how the IC fits in the car? I was going to go that route with 3 dsm cores, but I can't weld aluminum.
Also i just noticed you're in chagrin falls. I'm in the mayfield area, maybe i could stop by and see it sometime.

Nope, sorry i don't have any pics of how it fits in a car. TPI383's car is all torn down and I test fit it on his Z. Seems like it would fit beautifully with just an enlargement of that hole.
If you'd like to check it out, that's no problem. Heh, i'm going back to the garage right now to put the carb back on, you could stop by this afternoon if you have nothing else to do.
i'll PM you my address.

Do you have some set price you're looking to get for it or do you just want to be told to keep working on your idea... A ball park figure would help some people, even if you figure it alittle high. Or are you thinking about parting separately?

after all he did buy em from me. but you're in florida.
so techniclly, im closer.
nah. i was pissed. I'm ok now. I'm not going to sell it unless someone makes an offer i can't refuse that pays me for my time invested in searching out parts and making the manifolds. even if that were to happen, i'll just start over again.
I'm putting the EFI on hold till the winter and i'll put in a stock cam (WHO'S GOT ONE?)and do the TPI at the same time. It will give me time to siamese it as well and maybe get some high flow runners so it really does work out in the end (or so i am going to tell myself repeatedly)
Mark is sending those flanges (and what will be 47lb injectors), so i'll have my exhaust manifolds done before i goto school. I'll probably get them and the turbos down to you for coating, Chris. Maybe the TPI intake as well.
Part of my datalogging problem is the 727 and its slight differences from the 730...there's a couple and they just really don't make sense, like having two pins for serial data. I'm going to get a 749, and convert my 165-727 harness to a 165-727-749 harness lol. I dealt with not knowing exactly what i was doing for a week and then i had it all wired right (as far as i know) and it should have gone beautifully but i just can't log it for the life of me. three laptops and two different cables and still no luck. OH WELL. I'll be driving the car to work today and that's all that matters.

Donno if you saw my email, but your injectors are done, I’m just waiting for new caps, o-rings and spacers to show and I can have them in a box and in the mail in 10 minutes.
WRT to your setup, I’ll start… $1

But only if you do a good job welding the flanges that I’m sending you.
