How much boost can I run?
2 bolt, stock crank, H beams and 8:5:1 wiseco pistons. Cast L98 Heads. All studded and the TPI intake. Motor is internally balanced. We will also have 3 core intercooler.
Usually you find out how much it can handle after the motor is built. Detonation/Knock will be the sign to back it off. Gonna be some sort of compromise between the timing, your octane of gas, and whatever techniques you use to supress detonation.
That's very similar to the L98 I built for my car so let me know how much boost it handles.
I have to wait until winter 06 before I can install my TT kit as my car is in storage now until I'm out of the Navy.
It does depend on a lot, as he said just boost easy at first and work your way up as you tune. What is going to be creating that boost, btw?

My setup is almost exact but I have aluminum L98 heads and a little lower 8.0:1 compression. I've ran 16lbs on pump gas(93) but it was a little lean for comfort, but it had no detonation. I still need more fuel pump. I ran the 10.9@128 at 14lbs of boost. Im hoping after i put the inline pump in, i can run upper teens of boost(around 18) All i can do is turn it up slowly and watch the WB o2 and listen for detonation or the snap of the stock crank, haha

D1 Procharger. The tranny is going Janis Transmission in Akron for a full overhaul. I talked with Vince the owner and he said I'll build it for 700 HP. Once thats done then the motor will be at the machine shop. Since we are getting custom pistons, should I see if we have to go 30 over? Would 10 or 20 over be good if that cleans it all up?
Ideally you should only go over as much as it takes to make everything in spec. Usually that's .030 with normal-high mileage small blocks though.
700hp? Isn't that pusing it for even a built 700R4?

I wont be pushing it that much but he said he would build it for 700 HP. Raptor has a new 700R4 capable of 700+ now. Its a stage 4

One thing to be careful about with tran ratings. Most all of the high hp autos are rated for off road. Which means the trans isn't capable of handling that power on a daily basis. Of course every builder is different. Just make sure you dont wind up with a drag racing tranny that you intend to use on a powerful street motor.
