I've read many of your post and I'm interested in the specifics of you engine. Is it a basic stock 3.1 with the iron heads ? I, researching for a 3.4 turbo project. Your help will be appreciated !

aside from the bottom end,the top end was nothig more then a ported set of stock iron heads with a stock manifold that was port/gasket matched.
the bottom end was also stock crank/rods.but i had installed arp rod bolts, and had gone with some forged pistions with the stock cr of 8.9-1.if u dont plan on running mo0re then 8-10 psi there is no real need to goto forged pistions, unless u plan on running nitrous,or u just want the added saftey of forged pistions

I don't have any hands on expirence with turbos but have built 5 na engines with good results. I have good basic knowledge of turbos and trying to learn more. It appears that the two biggest problems are fuel and ignition management. Since I have a 3.4 wouldn't the 3.4 sfi intake be my choice, using megasquirt.

i myself just got megasquirt, and the plan was to make the swap over the winter.
now the 3.4 engines had dis ignition system,so im not sure how to make that work with megasquirt.if u use the 3.4 sfi intake u have to run dis,but if u swap over to the 2.8/3.1 intake u can run a distributor.for the most part just about all the v6 guys that do do the 3.4 swap swap back on the 2.8/3.1 manifold so they dont have to worry about the ecm/harness change.
either way will work,u just have to make sure u can controll the dis with megasquirt

Does the sfi intake block the dist. access ? Are the mpfi manifolds and ecm's equal or are some better than others,I have a u-pick'um yard here that's reasonable. Also I could consider the 3400 alum. head /intake swap since it seems to offer much more potential .

if u swqp to the aluminum fwd heads u also have to swap in wd pistions.cause the chamber cc of the aluminum heads is half of the rwd iron heads.if u swap heads without the pistions u will have around a 14.6-1 cr.also swaping to the fwd heads/manifold requires u to swap to dis iginition.

the 3.4 manifold does block the dizzy.if ur gonna swap to a 3.4 and keep the iron heads just use a 2.8/3.1 manifold, unless u are going to run the dis tyhen use the 3.4 manifold, unless u want it to look like a stock 3.1 engine

I think that I will just stick with a modified stock block and heads just to see what results I can get. I will have more ? in the future.
