turning to nitrous

hey i was wanting to start using nitruos on my bird, im gonna run on an 1/8th mile track an im wanting an "easy" to tune and install entry level kit

heres the mods to my car, but before anything else i don't wanna hear any 305 complaining, i know i shoulda bought a 350, but my plans changed before after i built the motor

305 .060 overbore 2 peice rear main block 2 bolt
reconditioned rods
reconditioned 2 piece crank
cast pistons
#187 heads with a full port job
melling tourqe cam mtc-1 .420/.443 204/214
edelbrock eps performer intake
holley 4160 600cfm
flowtech shorty headers
flowtech y pipe
performance catback

i was thinking about the sniper kit
but im open to ideas and opinoins

Re: turning to nitrous

I have always thought that stock V8 can safely take up to 100 - 125 without much difficulty

The problem with nitrous is that if you buy a small system and then get the bug - you will want to add more (as we all do)

Buy a system that at least takes you up to 125 - you will not regret it

Read around safe tuning both on this site and your instructions

trust me - its a feeling like no other !!!!

Re: turning to nitrous

sniper kit is a good start, though i would go with the NX Hitman kit for about $75 more but it will probably outlast the sniper kit. in terms of solenoid life.

Re: turning to nitrous

get a throttle safety window switch , all the safety bells and whistles for your first time . It all goes boom once and you are done

for every 50 shot of N2O you back of the timeing 2 degrees

Re: turning to nitrous

I'd run a NX, Cold Fusion, or TNT kit... I've heard good things outta all those brands. I'm running a Cold Fusion kit for over a year now, problem free (including the bottle heater)...

Re: turning to nitrous

I would say that those cast iron pistons will only last you about twenty good run down the track.

Really depends on the amount of nitrous being used, and the current condition of his engine (assuming of course he has his fuel/timing issues under control)...

Re: turning to nitrous

they will lat alot longer then you think..

the key is tuning. If you get a solid tune on the car and keep an eye on everything theses no reaon you cant run a 150 shot.

Run some colder plugs, get some good wires,etc..retard your timing when you plan to spray. and just make sure you dont run into detonation.

Run some good gas when you plan to spray. etc...

Re: turning to nitrous

All that plus the obvious, fuel pump. You don't want to be dropping fuel pressure in the middle of a nitrous pass....

Re: turning to nitrous

i was gonna run a pressure gauge right at the carb, probably sticking throught the hood so i can keep an idea on the pressure, plus i'll turn my regulator up when i run it
