British Regional Board?

Please, please, please can we have a small area of the board in the regional section to keep our ramblings off the main boards? I and others have sent e-mails requesting this.

Thanks,
Felix

A UK regional section on thirdgen.org would be a great idea.

We may be relatively small in number but we are a dedicated bunch of enthusiasts. A UK regional board would allow discussion of events/meets/drags etc that are UK specific, and prevent them from occuring sporadically (and at times inappropriately) on other parts of the site.

It has certainly been mentioned before.

Gordon
Do you not think that discussions like this are not best suited to an Appearance and Detailing Forum.... and that actually we would be best with a regional board on thirdgen.org especially considering that we seem to be increasing in numbers.

Dear Dirk,

We all love our Thirdgens, and use this board as a valuable research tool, for our technical questions (in the main!). I started out 18 months ago with my Camaro as my first American car, and found this site very informative.

However, if it's within your power to do so, we'd also like an area of our own to organise local meets and so on.

Regards,

Paul UK89Camaro

I think it is a good idea. In addition to the 13 or so people living in the UK there are also about the same again living elsewhere in Europe-but thankfully, none of them appear to be from France!

The British Regional Board will work, lets just not have joshp14 as moderator, going on a locking spree like the other night isn't acceptable behaviour.

I think that would be excellent!

Count me in on that one, and I call MODERATOR!

please please please a uk message board within this site would really be a boon... providing we are allowed to run it... can't have people who know nothing about the UK scene taking it upon themselves to abritarily shut us down with less than no understanding!!!

Yeah!

Come on guys!!

Just think how decicated we must be to our cars what with the price of fuel and spare parts over here in England!!!

We do want to keep these "Ramblings" off the tech boards to the benefit of everyone who uses the site, but we still want to be able to arrange meetings and cruises etc! So what are the chances of a regional board?

Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Take care

Phil

British Regional Board

I too must vent my anger at JOSHP14 (moderator) doing unacceptable "locking" of a genuine & happy no-nonsense thread for us guys in the UK requesting a forum for UK 3rd genners. WHY ?

I trust there is no biased reasons on his part for doing this to us here in the UK. Also, if he can take the time to lock up threads, then he must too take responsibility & answer our emails & questions.

I look forward to hearing from JOSHP14 or from any other moderator in how he/she can restore my confidence in 3rd GEN.org. fairness policy !

Best regards.

I am doing my job guys...the current mods of the board were not on enough to take care of the threads that needed to be locked...like the bs one that I closed for the U.K. It had nothing to do with the appr/detail board and was non-technical. I was told I am doing a good job with keeping that board clean.

I don't mean to be a pita, but there were many that needed to be locked.

A board is on the way for you guys.

Gentleman,
Please do not take out your hostilities on Josh. He is only doing as he was instructed to do. I have been helping him along the way, and feel the he is doing a stand-up job.

I have spoken to Dirk about this, and he is already developing a board for our members across "the pond". I am not postive on the specifics, but I know that he is working on one for Europe.

Now, on to the moderator part. For the way some of you have been acting on this thread alone, I am sure being a moderator is not for you. In regards to the threads that Josh locked, I followed that thread for a while, and it did indeed have zero tech-related content. Please ease up on the bloke.

If any of you feel that you have been treated unfairly, please feel free to email or PM me anytime.

Regards, Thomas

OK good. I don't want beef with anyone...I just want people to understand where I stand and put yourself in my shoes. But surely your voice has been heard and I hope everything works out with the boards for you guys.

Josh and everyone else that listened.

Thank you

We appreciate your comments and at the end of the day i would say thanks are in order as you've spurred us into trying to sort out our own regional board, so at the end of the day it seems everything may well work out to have been to the advantage of all!!

Thanks guys

Phil

well josh you may have received a few brickbats but knowing how most of us over here operate it's nothing personal... nice to see that our voices have been heard though our very own regional board :lala: i do agree that the uk 3rd gen bit we had may have gone ahem a little off topic but as i indicated to you people must understand that due to cultural differences and other factors it is not always possible to use the chat rooms or go surfing endlessly for uk related topics...

I am very glad to hear those of you in the UK are getting your own board.

What I find odd is when those of us from Western Canada asked for a regional board we were denied. I suspect there is a 1000 or so thirdgens in this area.

Out of curiosity, and other than those already on the boards that may know one another, how frequently are ThidGens apparent on British roads? I know of even a couple of FirstGen Firebirds that are there (or at least, were there about six years ago). There must be far more than the twenty or so that are represented by members known to be in the U.K.

There are also several in Germany, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Holland, Poland, and likely in parts of central and southern Europe as well.

So, does anyone have any idea? I guess we can wait to see how much traffic the board generates.

Ok,

I spoke with Dirk this evening, and he is working on the Europe board. He said that he would try to have it up very soon!

It is ready.

Dirk has the Europe board up and running. Just look above this board and you will see it at the bottom of the regional boards.

Happy posting!!!

Awesome! Thanks!

Vader- there are quite a few thirdgens over here, they seem to be one of the most popular 'Yanks' as by American standards they are quite small and will actually fit the smaller garages we have over here Whever I see another thirdgen we almost always wave to each other.

I remember when I was driving up to the track one day I came across a convoy of a 5.0 Mustang, 99 Ram Air TA, 96 Z28, Capri with a Big Block Ford and Nitros and a 2000 Anniversary Vette. We had a lot of the fun for the rest of the journey to say the least

Vader:-

They are not a common site by any stretch of the imagination. The most common US car's are 2nd and 3rd Gen F-body's. I believe the single most prevalent US imported car, according to the DVLA (Basically the UK Transport Agency), is the 2nd Gen Firebird. Can't remember which book I read that in though offhand.

There are undoubtedly way more than you would imagine by looking at the boards. The drag racing scene is also more competitive in the UK than some of our US brothers may believe.

Big thank-you to Dirk on behalf of all European Thrirdgenners.
:hail:

Gordon.

Vader,

U.S. cars are quite common in my area. One of my neighbours has an LT1 Vette-he loves the car more than his wife, this is a guy I can relate to! I also have a C5, White LT1 Trans-Am, Gran Torino, and others. These are just the locals from my area.
