why no community area?

I read the post about not having a non-tech area....seems pretty silly to me. I honestly believe a non-tech community area is well suited to this board. There is no where for any of us to just hang out and post stuff others here might find interesting.

"This is a tech board"...well if that was trully the case there would not be the regional boards which are clearly not completely tech related.

I just believe a community area that is properly moderated is a good thing for any forum site. I am unclear of the reasons that a community area is not a good idea. It would promote user interaction by allowing members to get to know each other by being able to post stuff about themselves, like.."I got a new puppy" and threads simialar to that. The way it is now, there are lots of people that used to post that no longer do. I believe a big reason for that is the fact that there is no Community Center type of area.

Maybe a better explanation in the thread that says there will be no community area is appropriate so that those who would like to see one will understand why it is not going to be allowed.

I will be trully upset if this thread is locked and no reason whatsoever is given.

so...instead of explaining it I am told to go to a different board...?

Also, Iowa...NE?

The thing is, if I wanted to post on a different board, I would...and may after that reply, but my question is why not one here?

A few years back we did have a non tech board. But sadly everyone began to flame oneanother on that board and it then trickled out into the tech fourms to the point where things go so bad the site was shut down. So in a nutshell www.thirdgen.org will never ever ever have a non tech board. I like many other members go to other boards to chat and what not. You can also go to this web site, its new and needing members.

I like the fact that we do not have an "Anything goes" area. This site is meant for us to learn, and teach others, about third gens only.

I am glad that Dirk has not allowed any general type of board. I have seen some of the others, and they get way outta hand. There is a reason this site is the best on the net for our cars. Not many other sites get mentioned in so many mags.

to Dirk!

I really wish people would give up with this already. No matter how many times people ask for it, there will never be one.

Why not? Because the people who pay for the boards said so.

Theres a million other chat rooms and message boards out there to BS on.

nice reply...

Thank you 85SportCoupeto89RS, it is good to see that at least one member on this board has some sense of decency and is willing to answer a question that was sincere.

I failed to see how I was rude to you. I suggested a board where members from this site go for non tech, then you asked a questino, and I answered it.

I don't try to **** anyone off, it's the internet I've never met you, why be rude to you

we get the topic of non-tech boards all the time here. and 85 was right, we had one way back, and it got waaaay out of hand. dirk ended up pulling the plug on thirdgen.org. we obviously DON'T want that to happen again.

sorry, but i also see why mark replied the way he did. a lot of times we just list an explanation (like 85 did) and offer up a board that has a non-tech section. you could also try www.3rdgen.org but you will have to register before you can read or post messages.

if you feel that you need to leave the site, go for it. don't let anyone stop you. but just because someone might have said something that you viewed as too abrupt, that doesn't give you the right to retaliate by calling that person an "asshat".

and get over the fact that roshambo was JOKING when he called the people "asshats". no need to dwell on things that happened in the past.
