Suggestion: Editing Subject Line
I frequent several Computer Tech Forums and one of the things that they have found to be helpfull is to allow the user to edit the Subject line. When a problem is fixed the user can then add the word " Solved " to the Subject Title. Helps a lot with searchs and alerts others to what has worked.

No because people will post a crazy title to get attention then just change it later.
Would that mess up the search?? I also don't think that that would be a good idea, because there will be other members out there that will have the same problem and will have a heck of a time looking through all of the solved posts. They will have to read through all of them to find out if it fits their situation.

IE: A search for " Holley problem SOLVED " is going to bring up a lot less hits than having to weed through a search called " Holley problems "..... but the hits you get will have solutions that work.
It actually makes the search function better. Some people never bother to post back when a solution works. That is just plain wrong. It helps every one when an acknowledgement is posted that a solution works. Makes it much easier for someone to sort the " wheat from the chaff ".
We've had people resurrect a ( computer ) post that is months old, that people were ripping their hair out trying to solve and do a repost with the Subject line edited by adding the word Solved. You wouldn't believe how many posts we get right away from people saying that they had the same problem, that no one could ever fix, and they were so happy to finally find a solution.
Sadly as IROCZTWENTYGR8 notes this requires a forum with a certain level of maturity. It is very bad etiquette to change a Subject line from something, let's say, inflammetory to something innocent for example. Trolls do that...considerate, mature users do not. I can see IROCTWENTYGR8's point there......he would know the forum's past better than me. Maybe it's been tried before and didn't work
