Re: The Oklahoma Thread
ok all you OKC guys..... i know it's late but if i could get a reply back from ANYONE in the metro, prefer south side but don't care right now.... I AM IN DESPERATE NEED OF A 110V WIRE WELDER!! ASAP!! the woman had to go tanning tonight and decided to rip the exhaust from the cat on back off of the car. the muffler is still there... kinda... but i need to get the rest welded back up, i really don't want to go and get slide on sleeves and clamp all of it back together cause then it will leak.... so any and all help would really be appreciated. if anyone works at an auto or exhaust shop that can cut me a deal would really be great. i get paid friday and could get you the money monday! someone please help a guy out!
Thanks in Advance!
Chris
any help please call 405-923-1489

Re: The Oklahoma Thread
it's not funny, it's awesome.... i told you how badly i wanted to get that cat off of there, well now i finally got to do it! it was just tack welded on there in the first place cause the guy that did it sucked at it, so just after all the driving, it finally came off! AND I'M HAPPY AS HELL!!
**** MUFFLER OR PIPE WORK .... I WOULD RECOMMEND ^MUFFLER KING^ ON S. WESTERN AVE. JUST TO THE NORT OF NAPA ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE STREET**** they did a damn good job and only charged my $50 for 3" pipe, and the labor!
not much louder, but you can tell at higher rpm's and it's not leaking under the floorpan anymore making it stink in the cab!
thanks a lot to ALL of you that posted with some help or suggestions for a welder, you ALL were a huge help!.............

Re: The Oklahoma Thread
well when the exhaust got ripped off the cat got beat to crap, so they cut out about 30" of cat and brackets to get back to the round 3" pipe. then they had to bend a little bit here and there. they also had to re-weld the pipe back together where i had to "cut" it (aka tear it apart) right before the axel. that took some heating, bending, prying, and spreading to get that to line back up too. i was up there for about 1 1/2 hours. That's pretty freakin cheap compared to anything i had done back at home in Nebraska.
were you suggesting that that was cheap too or a rip off?

It sounded pretty cheap to me, I am looking around for a cheap muffler to throw on the bird and to bend up two tips and put a muffler on most shops are asking 50-75 or so... looks like I might head over there in the next few days.

Does anyone have a popup camper or bumper hitch camper that I can pull with my Durango. If so, can you PM me some pictures and your asking price please. Going to be needing one here shortly!
Thanks in Advance!

Re: The Oklahoma Thread
couple things....
1. Just checkin to make sure everyone is ok? Nice rough night, was a blast though, but making sure that everyone else is ok too and that nobody was injured.
2. Thursday, Friday, Saturday, & Sunday we are having our HUGE freakin garage sale, i mean huge, took up our entire dinning room and living room just to get everything setup and tagged. it is going to be from 8-5 and if the weather is nice we will be there for that entire time, if weather gets in the way, we may have to start a bit late or stop a bit early, but we will be up!! Please stop by and get this crap out of my hair already!! LOL TONS OF CLOTHES! more than plenty baby/small girl clothes, toys, lots and lots of adult clothes and a few car parts...
Thanks again, and hope that everyone is ok!

Re: The Oklahoma Thread
i finally got to work on my T/A over the couple of weekends here are some pics of how it sits now. i still have alot of work to do but i also need more parts so it doesnt really matter lol
last weekend i replaced the head gaskets and the oil pan gasket.
i just finished putting the intake on and the dist. in.
This car should be pretty quick when i get it running.
The engine is a 357 with cast flat top pistons 10.2:1 compression
LT1 cam
Erson roller rockers
Performer EPS intake
Dynomax shorty headers
True Dual 2.5" exhaust with flowmaster 40 series mufflers
i still need a carb and fuel pressure regulator (running stock TPI fuel pump). if anyone has either of these local let me know.

i need something closer to a 650 cfm for this motor and i would prefer a holley or demon carb. (not much of a fan of edelbrock) they are not swirl port heads im not sure of the casting number tho. they are mostly stock with aftermarket dual valve springs. the cam specs are:
valve lift @.050:
intake: .447
exhaust: .459
lobe lift: @.050:
intake .298
exhaust: .306
Duration: @.050
intake: 205 deg
exhaust: 207 deg
lobe separation: 117 deg

Re: The Oklahoma Thread
I got a torker high rise Id probly let go for probly 75 bucks. I just had it blasted so it looks brand new. I think its good for over 6800 rpm......but I'm in n.w. okc. I also have an autometer gauge pod and air fuel meter, and a 0-100 psi fuel pressure gauge, all brand new never used. Got a set of 305 heads that are in good shape if anyones interested. Ive got three 10 bolt 80's model truck rear ends that I'd let go for 50 bucks a piece. 2 have 273 gears and 1 has 342's. The one with the 342's whines a little bit. The other 2 are in great shape despite the small ratio.
I also have a freshly rebuilt 700r4 thats in damn good shape that I would sell for $250. It does need a tailshaft seal but thats no biggy. shifts like a champ.
Got some 22# multec injectors someone could probly have if they wanted...
I'm sure theres more but I cant think of it all right now.

Hey guys, frequented the boards much in the last 2 years in getting my car running. I'm John and live in SE OKC just past Tinker. Have an '86 WS6 TA w/ 355 TPI I recently built with a few minor kinks left to work out. With plans for the new engine/tranny/megasquirt in the makings. I was a previous COFBA member, since '02.

Re: The Oklahoma Thread
Thanks guys. If you had something I was interested in, I would. But... EFI = no torker. Vortec heads = no 305 heads. Looking at Ford 9" rear end = no 10 bolt. Have a good 700r4 now. but looking at getting the TCI 4l80e 6speed = no 700r4. And have 23# injectors in = no 22#'s. As far as the gauges go. Not sure yet. I plan on getting a TC-1 for the Megasquirt. Haven't yet decided on SBC vs BBC. Doing some "pencil/paper" mock ups to see which one I'd rather do.

Re: The Oklahoma Thread
I do like the torker....its a great intake from a past project, I'm just playing with this TPI right now so I don't need it. My brother has a holley 750 with vaccumn secondarys that is bada$$ but I doubt he come off it.
eighty6ta, don't go with a big block man theres barely enough room in these things to fit a small block. I know a guy who has a 406 in a third gen that frikin thumps. If I wasnt playing with this injection crap thats exactly what I would run.
Speaking of injection crap..........anyone in here any good or know someone that has the ability to burn custom chips. I know a shop called ATF auto here in town that does it I just don't want to pay his prices. Not only that I really wana sit down with someone and learn this crap. I'm not talking about just removing vats and egr here I am talking about timing curve, fuel curve, maf, etc, etc, etc. Knowledge aint cheep and trust me I would pay someone.....just not what this other prik wants.
Car runs amazing but I know I could squeeze some more pony's outa it with a good tune.
P.S. raced a new or "newer" model mustang gt a couple weeks ago from about a ten mph roll and strait spanked him right out of the hole. We ended up around 110 mph before he let out and I had a few lengths on him.
Not bragging, just putting down another rustang

Yeh, I know the lack of space in these things. Already removed A/C and A.I.R. The only thing that I am really not sure about is either relocation of the brake booster and master cylinder. Or if I can clear enough room with a hydroboost. Again, just going to depend on SBC vs BBC. Need to do more studying. Goal for this particular car is hopefully sub 10's.

But if your really are serius about being that fast in a third gen (im sure you allready know it) plan on putting a chit load of money down for sub frame connectors, tubular k-member etc etc. Oh, and screw an adjustable torque arm with that kinda car go with ladder bars period.
Here's a sight out of oklahoma that has a few third gens in it that will rape all of us.

awesome. I'll keep my eye out.

Yeh, I know it can be done with a small block. I actually have a friend willing to give me an LT1 block. Not sure I want to run the LT though. Any thoughts? Cost is a big thing. And yes, I do love high RPM's. The only thing that makes me want to do the BBC is "for the heck of it." and because everyone I know is doing the SBC (though that should tell me something.)
Yeh, I already have most everything picked out for the suspension. Including a Moser 9" rear and and having a single backseat,

There is nothing wrong with the lt1 block, but in my opinion, and there kinda hard to find anymore if you can find a 010 or 020 block with high nickel content you can punch them out 60 over easy without an worries. every now and then you can find a high nickel shortblock cheep on craigslist.
I have been told the older gm "budget" crate motors had high nickel content. You can easily identify one of these because in the heads and on the back of the block they will say "hecho en mexico" .....made in mexico.
Or try to find youself a decent rebuildable 400 and either destroke it or bore it over. You can make some really serious numbers out of a 400. Been seeing a lot of them on craigslist lately.
