Wow, Dallas/FW has us beat on number of cars! C'mon ATX, this is in our town. I'm printing our more flyers today to carry in all my cars. Mark, can you add a link for flyer printouts on the first post?

I'm added a section in the headcounts for maybes. If you are not sure you're coming and want your name moved to that section, OR... think you might come but can't commit, I can put you there.

Re: Second Annual Texas Statewide Gathering

Hello,
I was just thinking and for the people that are cruising together to the meet, i want to get these so we can all talk to each other while driving, maybe!

It sure beats trying to have all cell numbers of everybody!

Just an idea, and be on the same channel!

Re: Second Annual Texas Statewide Gathering

LOL, that's pretty sweet. I may have to pick up a couple of those... My wife has things like that for the day care she is the supervisor for, but the speakers sound terrible.. I might try those for her, and se if if you can understand anything coming out of them over the road noise these cars create

Re: Second Annual Texas Statewide Gathering

after reading about them... those things require a FCC license to legally operate. (doesn't mean we couldn't use them, but I wouldn't be buying them for the daycare, LOL)

regardless, whoever the lead car in the caravan is, everybody should have a contact number, in case there is a breakdown or emergency stop that needs to be made

Re: Second Annual Texas Statewide Gathering

I would like to come the gathering but I don't have a 3rd gen car yet. I've wanted a Camaro IROC_Z ever since I first saw one in the '80s. I finally got serious about shopping for a IROC-Z this winter, and I'm taking my time tyring to get the right car at the right price and learning what I can about them. I've been learning a lot here on the thirdgen message boards and would probably learn a lot more seeing all the different cars and talking to the owners. Is the gathering open to someone like me with a great interest but no 3rd gen car yet?

Re: Second Annual Texas Statewide Gathering

of course! I'm going to start a list for those coming, but without a 3rd gen

If you find a car you like between now and then, i'll be thrilled to put you on the different list!

Hello,
You only need a license if you use the channels 15-22, these channels are used for governmental use mainly.

So if anyone is interested we are okay to use them! I spoke to a Best Buy employee & they had never heard of that, So they cleared it all up!

and Mark post up the Amazon link on these................

Re: Second Annual Texas Statewide Gathering

Id def be down to buy a set of these to make communication a lot easier than trying to make a phone call while driving. so much simpler to put one message out over the air that everyone in the group can hear instead of phoning someone who has to phone someone else and so forth.

Re: Second Annual Texas Statewide Gathering

here's the ones I found... no tax, free shipping

the best buy ones didn't look like they were sold in stores, so you would be hit for tax and shipping... ouch

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

I'm probably going to pick up four of these, so if travis gets two, that gives us six total

Re: Second Annual Texas Statewide Gathering

Don't forget we have flyers that can be passed out, left on cars, leave a stack at an auto parts store, whatever...

Robbie (1fas92) has generously offered to print up 50-100 of these flyers and mail them to anybody that wants to use them. Very generous of him, thanks robbie!

PM him if you want to take advantage of the offer.

here's the link for the flyer if you want to print it yourself

Mark, please put my buddy Jeremy89IROC down for "maybe". He's my neighbor but works in NOLA, so it depends on his schedule. He's not registered on ATGO or TGO.

I would love to attend. Probably just myself, perhaps with one guest. My 87 Trans am runs well enough to be my daily driver, and I am looking forward to taking it on its first road trip. Have a lot of minor issues, but mostly cosmetic. Count me in. I'd love to be a part.

Hehe, I was the one responsible for the Austin group to be late last year.
After we all gathered at our rendezvous point, we were getting ready to leave and I jinxed us by asking "how many Cheby's will fail to start today?". Oops, wrong words to say at a Cheby gathering. Needless to say, we had to pull out the jumper cables, starting fluid and other tricks and rolled out about 15 minutes late.

I will definitely keep my mouth shut this year!!

58mark--Thanks! No I never got that wonderbar and I'm in the market for one. I went to the NASA Camaro/Mustang challenge at Eagle's Canyon last October, saw that there are some Metroplex builders who do great chassis work, their own frame connectors and so on. Chassis stiffening is my next step and I've been thinking of getting one of these builders to do my car, whatever they recommend for the street.
Deciding between an LS swap or a stock appearing 350 next so I'll need that strong chassis, then fresh paint.
Did you finish that frame-up '58?

nope, it's running, and I drove it down the street, but it's a long way off from finished. right now I'm trying to get the doors to hang correctly, and I haven't gotten it yet

Re: Second Annual Texas Statewide Gathering

I'm glad you still have it--patience, patience--I had a '58 Bel Air in high school, 348 with 3/2's, 16,000 miles on it when I bought it in March, '66 ($125!). It still owns a big chunk of my heart from 45 years ago.
Now this 3rd gen is the same and it handles like it's on rails. Do you know any of those Metroplex chassis people?
