flaring ?
flaring ?
I just got my new prop valve, I did the plunger mod and I am about to put it on. Problem is that the lines are going to need re-flared. I have a double flare on them now and I'm not sure if its going to work. My flares are concaved, those are double, right? How do I go about getting a flare that kinda comes to a point?(kinda looks like an arrowhead) Is this a single flare?
Anyways I'm not sure how to do this. Can I use the same flaring kit that I do double flares with?
I wish I had pictures to describe this better

I believe all of the brake flare lines on a stock F-body are ISO Metric Bubble Flares. That might be what you want to make. A standard double flare is made with the special tool by using the die as the first step and then using the tip of the press itself as the second step, thus a double flare. That's probably what you see now. I have one question though, why is there double flares on the line now??

I did a rearend swap from drum to disc and the donar car was an 83 camaro. When I went to change the prop valve it had double flares on it...I don't know why. So I cut the lines and double flared them. Now that I decided to go with the new valve(which I should have done in the first place) I have to re-flare them back. Are the IOS flares hard to do? and does craftsman make this tool?

I suggest replacing the brake lines. The ISO "bubble flare" is such a pain in the butt, that even I do not attempt it. The kit to produce the ISO "bubble flare" is cost prohibitive as far as I am concerned.
Find a doner car and remove the brake lines you need. I know it is a big pain replacing the brake lines, especially the front to rear brake line. But in the end it is easier. Or at least it is my opinon it is easier.
