Lowering My car, What to do with a lighter front end???
I have an aluminum water pump ( saves approx 12 lb) No A.C. (Approx 60-70lb), and I will be installing a cowl hood (fiberglass) in the future.
Most likely the car will be nearly 100lbs, lighter in the front. right now, without the glass hood, the front sits about 3/4 inch or more higher in the front than the rear. I want to lower it about 1.5 - 2 inches all the way around.
Should I just slice a bit off of the front springs when I get them, or what??? I don't even mind if it's raked a bit, that gives it a mean stance. How much should I cut them???? Or, should I get springs that lower the car like 3 inches in the front and 1.5 - 2 inches in the rear????

Uhm NO. Do not cut them unless they are a LINEAR rate spring.
If you get a progressive rate spring you will most likely ruin them.
Most of the time when you order after market springs for your Gen Camaro they will have some reduction in ride height. Check it out before you order or search the archives for threads that have asked the same question or that deal with ride height questions.
The Eibach Pro kit would be a great choise.

I'm in the exact same boat, same motor, Stewarts stage 2 water pumpe, no a/c, soon to have fiberglass hood...front is already sitting higher than back and I HAVE the pro-kit springs. I'm thinking about putting in a 1/2" spacer in the rear springs. This should help with the level and the LCA angle (less wheel hop).
I'm probably going to do this because I can NOT lower my front end anymore, it's gotten to the point where I can't even drive up driveways I used too. Besides, it's my only car! I'm also moving the batter to the back and the front impact beam is soon to be replaced by a welded bar. My car will probably end up looking like it's launching while in park/neutral! Cutting might be my only solution OR bigger wheels (fills in the gaps better and increases clearance).

Well then,
I guess I could just get the 2 inch drop all the way around and then get one of those do-it yourself coil over shock deals ( they're call load levelers) from Pep Boys and raise the rear till it sits like I like it. I just ordered new tires and I'm gonna put 255/50's out back and 225/50's up front, should lower the front a little more then 1/2 inch.
I put those coil over deals on my other car, and they helped the launch problems a lot!!!! Best 30 bucks I think I spent on the car! Plus you can adjust them pretty easily, to finely tune the ride height.

Just a thought but the Eibach sportlines drop the front like 1.8 inches and the rear 1.3 inches. While I don't have the weight reductions up front that you have, my car did sit a little lower in the rear. These springs helped that.
As you can see, the car is not 'slammed' as some here suggest will happen with sportlines.
Good luck.

Or if you could find the 2 inch drop spindles Belltech used to make that would lower the front 2 inches without messing up the geometry. But they no longer make them so you'll have to find them used.

Shultzy, did you have to make any modifications other than LCA relocation brackets and a front end alignment with those springs? Any ill effects/tires rubbing?

No ill effects.
No tire rubbing at all.
It's all good.

I put the Guldstrand Slalom springs in my car before I took an ounce of wight off the front end. It did not sit noticeably higher once the weight was removed:
Baer brakes 20lbs
A/C 25lbs
Aluminum heads 50lbs
Fiberglass hood 30lbs
I will sooner or later also get an aluminum water pump, mini race starter and possibly a coil over front suspension. But even hhthose items would only take maybe 75lbs more off the front end - maybe the springs will be too high then?
