Brake Line

The brake line going from the front of the car to the rear axle broke yesterday. I was wondering how long of a line that is because the parts store said they don't have preset lengths. I haven't had time to take it all apart yet so any help in the matter would be appreciated. Thanks

When mine broke I just bought a flaring tool and spliced in from the broken spot back to the rear axle T.

A change in the brake lines was made in 1984 to an "ISO metric Bubble flare" which is very difficult to reproduce.

I would suggest getting several pieces of the "Bubble Flare" brake line in premade lenghts and some unions from the auto parts store. Then fit the to the car as needed.

question though, the factory line is bigger than 3/16-metric quivilent & smaller than 1/4" . wont there be a lot of movement inthe connector going to the rear brake hose? Mine just broke there too .

I work @ AZ & the only ISO bubble linee is the "british" metric line which is smaller dia than the stock. or when the line is properly torqued, it will not leak & this is a dead issue.

edit: MD83Z, wouldn't it have been easier just to have Pat Goss ( of Motor Week) fix the ride

At the time when you buy the different lengths of ISO metric bubble flare brake line. Also buy several ISO metric bubble flare unions. These unions are specifically designed to allow the brake lines to screw into them properly.

The connector to the rear brake hose also has the "bubble flare" to allow the brake line to connect properly.

Try classic industries they have pre-made brake lines for our cars.
