Cut Springs? HELP!

When I bought my roc the car was already lowered. The ride is pretty rough. I know our cars arent made 2 have the smoothest rides but its a lil more rough than its supposed 2 at least i think so. seein how i got the car from a used car dealer, i didnt bother askin if they cut the springs or not. my question is how do i figure out if my springs were cut? another question is does anybody know the stock ride height of 86 irocs? i plan on buyin eibach springs and KYB struts from this guy i work with who never got around to droppin em in his now totaled 25th anniv. RS. we r gonna negotiate a price when it comes time 2 buy them. these r brand new BTW. I wanna know the stock ride height to see if it will lower my car even more or keep it the same. im hopin the same or a lil more raised because any lower is madness although it does look really nice how it is. gotta take care of that rough riding! thanx in advance for any help given!

well one way to see if it was cut is to look at the top and bottom of hte spring. It should be flat or horizontal so that it seats good on the a arm and k member. If you notice that its at an angle like it suddenly comes to a stop at and its all angled then its cut. Dammit tahts a bad explination...hopefully someone can explain it better. Sorry

you should be able to tell buy looking at them,,,first you can look at the springs you have are they black(usualy factory), purple (eibach), red (eibach or dropzone). Look at how many coils you got,,,,eibach have lots more coils then factory ones. Heres a pic of a factory spring(front I think, from Wishmaster's87IROC)
and a dropzone one. Does you car have less or more coils then this factory one???

Plus heres a two pics (of eibachs and factory 3rd gen springs). This pic is from Iroczone.com (tech section) I would of gave you a link of them but the site is down at this time,,,,I hope Nick doesnt mind!!!

yep your not supposed to cut a pigtail end of a spring,,,,but if you look at the other end I thing it would be hard to tell if the spring is loaded the spring will compress and go flat on its own even if its cut,,,but I could be wrong??? here Ill try to dray a pic to help us out here.

If the PR watches monster garage they might have lowered it with a torch. Lot of [cheap] low riders do that, heat the spring hot and bounch on the bumper till it looks low enough.

I mean it was on TV and the guy doing it was suppose to be a lower rider king and that is how he lowered the spring on the project.

I think that was on the limo firetruck project.

well actually the monster truck garage team is on a budget so they were probable just trying to lower it for free and save the money for other stuff. if it was thier real car...like jesse james' viper, he wouldn't have done that. he would do it the right way.
