Thirdgen Unibody VS 3-wheel Hydraulics
Thirdgen Unibody VS 3-wheel Hydraulics
So what dangers are facing the structure of your thirdgen if you are installing hydraulics and planning to throw it up on 3-wheels??
Anything you should install to re-inforce the frame or body??
What about having a 3-wheel stance while driving, or while standing still??
Any info is appreciated, or if you know about any potential problems, or what should be done to insure a safe 3-wheel move.....
Here is a pic in case you want to see what it would look like......
Thanks

BUT, the guy i talked to said something about having problems because of the design, and said that the quarter panel would buckle if i threw the car into a 3-wheel move??
Any truth behind that?

Only if you lift the corner enough to drive the opposite corner into the pavement.....
SFC's, wonderbar, STB....I'd reccomend LCA's and a PHR just on principle. It's still gonna be a bit of a strain, but the only other thing to do would be a rollcage and I doubt you wanna go that route.

stich weld all the subframes and stuff. SFCs, custom G load brace, like the ones sold for the 93 and newer cars. a wonder bar, 3pt strut tower bar, a cage is probably gonna be a useful.

Then i noticed you had a V6

how long have you had the dropzones in krazycracka? how do you like them, I have them in the front and I wish it was a little lower tho Ive only have them in for about 3k miles, do they settle at all? your car seems lower than mine with the same springs.

i put them in back in may/june and thats were they settled when they were done.......took a month or so
the car looked the same after the 3 hours it took to install them!!
but i measured all the way round and figured out the actual drop
i want it lower and my friends were like take em out and heat em and reinstall but i found the bag kit that easy street makes
so ima take them out and put that in in like the next 2 weeks

Juice brotha juice.
Possible....maybe...would i do it or reccomend anyone do it...no.
My old bud runs a single pump Reds juice setup in his thirdgen.
First off, we'll start with what you need to succesfully pull of a standing three wheel ( an extremely difficult hydraulic maneuver)
1) 4 pump hydraulic setup ( or 3 pump setup with intricate plumbing and dump routing)
and
2) An extremly strong frame (uni-body wont cut it wheather you SFC and STB AND Roll bar it!)
3) A device called a 'chain-bridge' which links the two rear hydraulic cylinders together which one of them to 'pull' and one cylinder to 'push'
A six fo impala ('64) standing in a open 3 wheel undergoes extreme structural and frame stress. When watching from the front you can actually see an impala 'twist' from corner to corner. And this is AFTER wraping the entire frame in 1/4 steel to beef it up.
Yes it is possible to do without wrapping the frame, but, more twist occurs and thus buckling happens.
Anyone with any juice setup can pull off a rolling 3 wheel (hitting a corner hard and juicing the rear) but there is still the same stress on the car, just not for a long period of time.
My bud with the thirdgen had three wheels a few times (couldnt resist...it is very fun!) and, lets just say it isnt kind to the rim or the sidewalls of your front planted tire. He chewed up his sidewall very bad and rolled the lip of his rim on the ashphalt. Not to mention he couldnt open his drivers door after the attempt!

I believe i have 3 other pics of camaros with juice at home, but im at work so i wont be able to post those till later.
Stress point are gonna be your t-bars ends, quarter panels, firewall corners, subframe area.
Bags are MUCH cleaner that juice, i dont recomend juice unless its in a sealed trunk, no a hatch like a camaro, becuz when a hydraulic line blows ( and remember, there rated to 4500 psi, and they do STILL blow!) that hydraulic fluid goes E V E R Y W H E R E!!
I saw a line blow in a pickup with a canopy on and both side windows and the rear window you could not see in from all the fluid blown all over the place. In a maro, it would blow up to and onto the inside of your front windsheild! Hows that for safe while driving! Also, if youve got nice upholstery....dont expect to ever get AW30 weight hydraulic fluid off of it any time soon.
Juice is fun, but risky.

I thought that car was just lowered i didn't know it was outfitted with hydraulics, anyhow....
What problems has your friend encountered with his set-up??
I'm still deciding between the teo, the only real difference is the speed and hydrualics can do a 3-wheel, as far as moves go....
anytime you see a car like that you should put 2 and 2 together to figure out how it could drive. if it was permanent you could barely get it on and off a trailer let alone drive it down a road without ripping something off. all in all it looks good though.

I bought one (Edelbrock Strut Tower Brace for TBI/carb.) but in the rush to get it I didn't check
that it wouldn't fit on cars with the A/C on the driver's side... does any one want to buy it?
$120 takes it!

closed because i'm tired of all the complaints and editing i have to do to keep this within the rules. if you want to continue this tech discussion repost it and if you want to insult other posters go somewhere else. sorry for any inconvience closing this thread causes anyone that is interested in installing hydrolics in a thirdgen.
