Installing new sway bars

Wassup fellas?
Alright, i got my front and rear sway bays, and a wonderbar.
Any tips for installing them? Should i jack up the car or use ramps? What about grease?
Thanks,

Ken

i'm relatively sure those parts are to be installed with the suspension loaded, so ramps would probably be best, you might wanna grease the bushings if they're polyurethane, mine squeek, no idea about the wonderbar though, sorry.

The main swaybar mounts doesnt matter if the car is on tires or not. But the endlinks should be tightened while on its own weight.

I think it would have been easier to mount front bar and wonderbar while having a friend, or jack to help hold things while I started the bolts.

What kind of bushings are you using? Stock rubber, or poly?

Instaling my version of wonder bar is easier because you can bolt it in place loosely with the extra two outer bolt holes. Then swing up the sway bar and install the sway bar mount brackets to the wonderbar. The installation is covered in the instructions I included with the bar. Ramps would be easier.

They are poly bushings.

lonsal, my wonderbar is from you. However, I got the early one that didnt have them extra bolt holes.

Poly bushings should be greased with provided grease. If it didnt come with any I dont know what you SHOULD use. I used regular wheel bearing grease on mine.

If it is straight poly, then use the special sticky white grease that Energy Suspension sells. I stock it as well. Any synthetic grease will work. But the sticky grease is specially designed to help prevent it from washing out when you go through water.

It was suggested to me by a customer (and I've updated the installation instructions since) to use those outer two bolt holes to hold the bar up while installing it. It makes installation much easier. Otherwise you have to lift the brace and the sway bar up at the same time and thread in a couple of bolts to hold it in place.

I'm considering offering a special "upgrade" discounted price to my customers that purchased my original version of the steering brace. I'll be e-mailing everyone if I decide to do this. I'm in the middle of running another batch currently.

relatively sure the special white "sticky" grease is just run of the mill lithium grease...don't shell out for it like it's a rare item, it's not

i used ramps... nothing special. i did, however, have trouble lining up one of the brackets that came with the center mounting bushings i had bought, so i just used one of the stock brackets instead. the wonderbar, if i remember correctly, was mounted before the swaybar. try bolting on the endlinks loosely so u can crawl under and bolt up the two center mounts and then tighten up the endlinks. have fun... definitly a worthwhile couple of mods!

You're wrong, it's not "run of the mill lithium". Lithium based grease is a conventional grease. That grease that Energy Suspension supplies in cute 'lil tubes is a synthetic grease. Super Lube is the equivalent if not the exact same grease. Here is an excerpt from SYNCO's web site: "Super Lube® is a patented synthetic NLGI Grade 2 heavy-duty, multi-purpose lubricant with PTFE. Synthetic base fluids and the addition of PTFE micro powders combine to form a premium lubricant that provides long life protection against friction, wear, rust and corrosion."
