Sloppy Turning?

I've had a problem with my car for quite some time.

Frist off, I've not touched the suspension/steering since I got the car. Mainly because of cash flow but also because I am waiting to do anything until I can do it all and only have to align it once... well, once for a while at least.

My car turns HORRIBLY at low speeds in parking lot situations. When pulling into or out of a parking spot, my car feels like something is binding. Almost like it wants to lift one of the front tires off the ground.

Anyone know whats causing this? The frame is straight, so I doubt that's it. Could it just be an alignment?

These cars always do that, especially in reverse. Don't worry about it. It's normal.

My car shows none of those symptoms I don't think its normal. Exept if you cut the wheel to the right you get some nasty noise which i'm sure isn't normal.

My stock 16" rims and tires rub, I think thats what may be happening to you. If the tire hits the frame hard enough it may try and lift the frame as it rotates. Next time it happens, try turning the wheel a little straighter. See if the frame drops back down, or look for some spots where the paint or undercoating has come off.

Or just have someone turn the wheel all the way and go look to see if its rubbing. Holding the wheel turned all the way for too long is bad for the power steering pump anyway.

My near stock sized tires (215/70/15) rub when I throw the wheel most of the way to one side or the other. Makes that wonderful screeching/chirping sound I love so much when I turn around or park.

I can't imagine how skinny your tires would have to be to NOT rub while parking. I have my factory 60's dodge rims lying around with 195/75/14's on them. I guess I'll check this weekend.

Laters.

In reverse, my car displays some of those symptoms when turning sharply, like backing out of a parking stall or the driveway...

I have never noticed anything when going forward at low speeds in parking lots though...

If I cut the wheel all the way to one side, in a parking lot, and go forward, it seems like the wheel "hops"... almost like I'm pushing the front tire. Granted my rear tires are wider than my fronts, but not by much (fronts are 9" wide, rears are 9.8" wide).
