the curse goes on
I've been cursed when it's comes to working on my, or anyother car. my damn brakes have been giving me problems, for probably the entire time i've owned this car. My friend and I replaced the rear brake lines, the calipers, passengers side rotor (they were both changed not too long ago, but the passenger side brakes were grinding and put a nice grove into the rotor) and new pads. We bled the brakes, and the damn pedal still goes straight to the floor. Now, there's some really loud grinding coming from what i think is the passenger side still, and when I press the brakes, it veers left. Do they need to be bled more, or do I need new front brake lines. I swear after this is fixed I'm never touching another car again.

consider replacing the rubber lines that connect the hardlines to the calipers... you cna get rubber replacements for like 5 bucks or get the Earls steel braided sets for around 70

well that caused even more problems. borke the front brake lines taking of the hoses, and stripped the proportioning valve putting the new lines on. all in all i think my friend and i have replaced just about every brake component on the car now: lines, hose, calipers, rotor on the passenger side, pads, and proportioning valve, and the lines were bled. BUT THE SAME DAMN PROBLEM IS THERE! There's major grinding sounds coming from the front passenger side tire, she pulls to the right while driving, and when I brake it pulls to the left. i some how magically drove from chicago to platteville and didn't get in an accident. now i need some serious help. anyone have a ****ing clue, cause this car is testing my all ready extremely thin paitience.

It sounds like the caliper isn't seating properly for some reason, that could cause some poor wearing pads. For the brake pedal going to the floor, it may be a bad master cylinder. Sorry I can't narrow it down further.

Man it sounds like your running into the same problem as i was...
it started with a simple brake job, then i replaced the Rubber lines, brakelines, proportioning valve, wheel cylinders, rotors, inner and outer bearings...
Turns out it was the Caliper Line Bolt... i was sent a defective one... first off if your hearing grinding it sounds liek you MAY need new rotors... the pedal to the floor would be a master Cyl. prob if youve replaced everything else. did you buy a new proportioning valve? cause i got 2 here...

the wheel looks like it's a bit crooked, could the rim be bent? and if it is, would this be causing any of the problems?

Bent rim shouldn't cause that problem. Did you lubricate the caliper bolts and slides? If they stick your brakes don't work worth a crap.

well, you guys should get a kick out of this. i replaced the outter bearing when i put the new rotor on. guess what i forgot to put back on, the INNER BEARING! i drove about 250 miles before the outter bearing blew and i had to pull over on the side of some wisconsin high way to fix it. luckily a friend of mine was following me at the time. the calliper mounting bolts got cut in half and had to replace them, the rotor. blah blah blah, in short terms i'm a moron. and to think i'm about half done with my degree in mechanical engineering.
