Good suspension/chassis books??
I'm looking for some good reading, not "how to bolt on brand X suspension kits."
I've heard this was a good place to start for suspension design..
Chassis Eng/hi Hp1055 by Herb Adams (Paperback)
Is there any others I should be putting on the Christmas list?

Could you reccommend a couple of them from that list, I'm not sure if I'm up to advanced reading like theory or any math equations that would require two years of college prep. lol

The Racing and High Performance Tire - Paul Haney

My reviews...
THE WORST BOOK IS the Bob Bondurant book. It is an advertisement for his schools and talks about his glory days. You wont learn a damn thing and ITS Boring.
Door slammers is all fluff with very little substance, but other find it a great read. I did not learn from it.
THE BEST FROM AN Entertainment standpoint is the Carol Smith Drive to Win. It is an easy read but assumes that you have a good working knowledge of suspension to begin with. A book of sets up to match drivers talents. Lots of amusing war stories. His theme as I understand it is if you want to race competivley you need money or need to know someone who does.
The Carl Lopez Book is the best on driving that I have read. If you read and do as he says you will be fast.
The 3 that I would recommend for learning suspension are...
The Puhn book( which is a hard read) I had to read it about 3 times before I could fully understand, but it is an excellent book on theory and has good applications. I beleve it to be the best reference book of the lot.
The - Paul Van Valkenburg book is good also. It touches on many aspect of car dynamics to include suspension, aero, gearboxes, brakes, etc. It is not indepth on any one subject , but a good summary of all.
The Herb Adams book is good when read with the above. It is the most simple of the books but has some errors in it . It does the best job of discussing scrub radis and the proper use of wheel offsets and gives a good discription of finding and calculating roll centers and instant centers, the effect of anti / dive /squat. More a book on designs rather than theory. VERY EASY READ.
After you have read those I would recommend the Haney Book, which links all the above to the tires and how differnt tires like different roll centers, shocks, alignment, aero, etc. This book is a good read.
PS If you pay for the shipping I will give you the Bob Bondurant Book.
Happy Reading

I would recomend starting out with Valkenburg, once you get a handle on that, then get Puhn. If you are still interested in learning more, in depth, then go to the Millikens.
I would also recomend the Simon McBeath book on downforce, I learned SO much reading this book, it is great. It is not too hard of a read, and he starts basic and gets more advanced, that makes it pretty easy to start learning the concepts. I have probably read that book cover to cover a dozen times, and I still keep it in my bathroom, and just keep reading it, and amazingly I keep learning each time.

It's dry reading but if whatever you want to do isn't in that book then it can't be done.
