Re: bilstein struts installed pics

If its a stock replacement strut, you should be fine. IIRC these cars came with bilstein from the factory, albeit a much older version. But even the new yellow and blue ones should hook up fine.

You might want to look into cutting the moog springs. From what I have read, if you cut them just right, they are basically equal in ride height and spring rate to the Eibach Pro-kit springs. Also, you might wanna look into replacing the strut mounts with aftermarket ones while you are in there, because it's a PITA and you are gonna want an alignment after anyway. Plus the stock mounts are prpbably worn.

Re: bilstein struts installed pics

thanks

my concern is with that the front bilstein have these cup like rim around it like its going to support a spring, which is what i thought was stock but after lookin at old pictures of when i installed new rotors i see the front stock spring in-bedded behind the stock stut not on top

im just confused and im afriad i bought teh wrong setup.

even thoguh it said 82-92 bilstein strut/shocks

plsu i was told the moog iroc style springs were a good stock replacement

Re: bilstein struts installed pics

the iroc replacemetn springs are a good replacement. problem is that they sit way high, they gave me about 4" of fender gap.

as for the struts, i dont think they whould have a large cup on top of them.
these are not bilsteins, but koni's, they should look similar, ignore the coil-over springs

Re: bilstein struts installed pics

I think that some people might use those struts to make coilovers - hence the spring mount (if thats what it even is). I would give spohn a call, they should be able to tell you about them.

The stock springs (and most lowering springs too) sit in between the control arm and the K-member, while if you go to coil-overs, which alot of newer cars have, the spring would go up top to the strut mounts.

Re: bilstein struts installed pics

My experience with Moog IROC-style replacement springs is as follows: The fronts (5662) are great. They didn't noticeably change the ride height. However, the rears (5665) jacked the car up higher than I like (though many might not complain at all). Even with the OE insulator removed and replaced with radiator hose, I'm dissatisfied. I'll probably cut a bit.
