Re: removing steering column

very simple. Under the hood, first disconnect the steering shaft from the column.

Remove any plastic panels under the column. There are 3 bolts in the firewall at the base of the column. I believe they are either 10mm or 13mm heads. Remove them from the inside. Then there are two larger nuts towards the top of the column that holds the column up to the dash. Remove them. Unplug all of the wiring harnesses and pull out the column. 30 minutes at the most.

Headers built for a thirdgen shouldn't require messing with the column. Should you wish more info, posting in the exhaust forum might be the best bet.

Re: removing steering column

Some headers you have to lift the motor to get them in. Pulling the column might be ALOT faster and easier than that, if that solves the problem. Also, some headers will hit the column, wherever it happens to be in the particular car, since there's a fair amount of tolerance in its mounting location; you can slot the screw holes at the firewall and move the column over toward the fender a little bit, it's amazing how much improvement in clearance just ¼" of that can make sometimes.
