parking brake won't hold?

my '86 Z28 has a 9bolt with aluminum ('89) calipers. i have tried everything that i can think of.but i still can't get the damned parking brake to hold properly. it almost appears that the whole design is crap. so they work like it.i have the cable adjusted so that their is almost no slack at all .if i pull the parking brake lever up as far as i can. it will only hold the car on a slight incline. please help.

Theres an adjuster in the tranny tunnel but you have to remove the drive shaft to get to it.

you can do it without removing driveshaft but you need two small wrenches and alot of patience

your problem may be in that you havent been using your parking brake enough lately. The rear calipers rely on the e-brake being used quite ofter in order to be adjusted properly. The design is very poor and many people seem to be having difficulty with this system.

My advise is to move the e-brake handle up and down a great deal of times to attempt to adjust the piston of the caliper in tighter with the pads.

I have a 5-speed, and as a consequence, I frequently use the handbrake. I've never experienced a problem--and my drive has good incline.

I thought this kind of thing didn't happen to the 89-up aluminum calipers? Weird. I wish I knew more...
