Is it possible to fit wheels that require 6 studs?

There are loads of wheels that I love but they require 6 studs and our cars only have 5. What I'm wondering is could you get a spacer that connects to the stock 5 stud hub but has 6 studs itself?

Anyideas who would specialy fabricate me some of these?

Regards

Robert

There used to be adaptors to allow you to put regular wheels on Volkswagons. I wouldn't recommend trying it for any kind of performance application. Either have the rims redrilled to a 5 bolt pattern or find some proper rims.

Anything is possible but what you're asking is highly improbable. To do it right, you'd need your axles redrilled for 6 lugs and have your disk brakes redrilled for 6 lugs. I've never heard of anyone redrilling the front brakes before.

It would be less expensive to approach the wheel manufacturer and have them do a single set for you with the proper bolt pattern (5 on 4-3/4)

6-lug wheels are for trucks...

Virtually all wheels except for the highly truck-specific ones are available in the Chevy car bolt pattern (5 on 4¾" like the other post said). I can't imagine that there's any kind of wheel you'd want that's not available for these cars.

Dodge Viper wheels use the 6 stud pattern.

yes, and why? Because they have the Dakota. Cost saving reason only. It also used the Grand Cherokee (ZJ model) steering column.

I just liked the wheels, that's all.

Oh well, it looks like I'm just going to have to make do with the 11.5 inch rear ZR1 wheels

Thanks for the help anyway.

Some mid sixties passenger cars had 6 lugs.(some GM station wagons and a few Pontiac 2+2's) I believe the hubs were interchangable with the trucks. There are companies that supply aftermarket 6 lug rotors for sixties vehicles that only came with drums. You could check some of the classic truck mags or sites. You could have all four corners redrilled. With all of the choices in wheels that allready fit, why bother.

The cars you're talking about did not have 6 lugs. They did however have the smaller truck pattern, 5 on 5, instead of the usual 5 on 4¾.

My 74 Caprice 454 convertible is equipped that way.
