STEERING GEAR BOX- How to change VIDEO
Here is a quick video i threw together on how to change a steering gear box. The car i was working on was a 91 GTA.. You can also subscribe to my channel to be updated on all the future thirdgen videos i will be making. Thanks
Also just to be clear..when doing this job have the wheels up in the air and pointing straight..and when reinstalling it, top off the power steering reservoir with fluid and start the motor up for two seconds..then with the motor off and the wheels off the ground, turn the steering wheel from lock to lock about 13-15 times and keep refilling as necessary..then put the car on the ground start the motor close the cap and turn the wheel again..top it back up...drive the car for a little and re-top it off.

Manolis, thanks for the video man I will be switching out my manual S-10 box for a power steering gearbox I picked up on Ebay. I was really happy to have found this.

Re: STEERING GEAR BOX- How to change VIDEO
I had found a manual gearbox from an S-10 at the scrap yard a couple years ago. My gearbox was leaking and I thought it may be cool to run the Z with manual steering for a while........and it was cool, for a bit. I love the feel going down the road, but that's it.
I'm going back to power steering because I'm sick of muscling the car into parking spots and doing burnouts is a lot harder, unless they are dead straight of course. Just can't be quick with the wheel......
I really don't mind loosing a little HP to the power steering pump, it turns out
I can't remember what exactly the little trouble I had is now when I switched boxes, but it has something to do with revolutions that Manolis explained in his video. So, I'll be watching it again right before I do the switch.

Re: STEERING GEAR BOX- How to change VIDEO
It was cool on the 1970 Z28 my friend had back in 74. but I do remember having to work at the wheel in town. I just wonder if you ever feel like it turns too slow in a panic situation. I am just feeling out if it would be a good or bad option, and you are the first to say that you are going back.

Re: STEERING GEAR BOX- How to change VIDEO
You are welcome guys.. I will be making alot more videos when the weather gets better.. If you have anything you would like to see have done let me know..I do pretty much anything car related..
For the guy going back to power from the s10 box..if you dont already know..the s10 box has its own pitman arm..in other words , you have to put in a thirdgen pitman arm when converting back to a thirdgen gear box. Also the ratio of the box is different, so anytime you do the s10 switch, you have to pull off your steering wheel and re-align it.
Thanks for watching guys..please subscribe to be updated on all my future projects
